It is not always the responsiblity of the tow truck operator. If you drive your car away it is your responsibility to clean up after your accident.

As you can see from the attached quotes taken today from OSHA's website the numbers you hear thrown around come from their requirements for intial training. The awareness level does not state any hours but as the last poster put up, FF's can not be trained to awareness. The big thing most people do not realize is that you do not have to take a refresher course. OSHA allows you to demonstrate your competency BUT, you better be ready to DOCUMENT!, DOCUMENT!!, DOCUMENT!!! It can not just be a simple sheet the the dept. training officer/chief signs and says you did it. So the easiest thing to do is take the classes. The other issue with haz mat training is alot of individuals who ride the front right seat do not have enough initial haz mat training to meet the requirements to be a incident commander at a haz mat incident.

My experience with text messaging for calls has not been the greatest. I have had experiences where my VHF low-band pager has gone off twenty minutes prior to my cell phone receiving the text message. Now with that said, most cases I receive the text message one to two minutes after the page and in one or two cases prior to receiving the tone on the VHF pager. There have been more than enough calls though where I have not gotten immediate notification that I do NOT rely on my text messages.

Correct, it doesn't cite the Law as to the PO having jurisdiction to turn the FD around. I believe though that this is the law that NWFDmedic was referring to in post #20

Hey, Does any one know who transmits on 453.000?? Some one is broadcasting on this frequency like as if they are a NYC Citywide channel. The only thing is they cover both FD and PD major incidents in the tri-state area. I heard them covering the 5 alarm fire tonight in union city and the white plains fire last night. most times it sounds like they are listening to scanners and other times they have guys on scene giving updates. Some other incidents have included shootings, stabbings, and Pin jobs. Just curious. Thanks in advance.
