  1. MLSS blows out Empress in pay starting out is 17.50+ at MLSS and 15.75 for Empress this is Medic rate. MLSS pays out of pocket for employee benefits and gives all employees 4 x 12 hour shifts so its guaranteed 8 hrs OT for fulltime workers. And MLSS is way more strick when it comes to professionalism and appearance /image then Empress. All this without a union. I for one despise and loathe unions, so my opinion is biased and I'll stop with that. Theyre a bunch of mafia thugs who only push to sell their "product" which is a membership. They only care about themselves, gaining more members and how they can control and increase power. Employees should be given a choice whether or not to join a union when incoming to a company. I for one would cross the picket into work and punch in because the union isn't going to pay my bills.
  2. I'm looking more for private companies. White Rose is one I found I don't know much about though nor much about how EMS works in general in PA. I know for most of CT and NY outside NYC private companies are tied into local 911 and supply ALS to nearby towns and cities through contracts all the while switching up with transports (ALS and BLS) with an EMT and Medic staffed ambulance. I'm guessing PA is a little similar. So I'm looking for basically something like that setup. At this point pay isn't much important I know CT pays a lot in the MId 20s NY is high teens to low 20s I have feeling PA might be less then NY but whereever I can get it ill take for now. I just don't know many companies outside the ones I mentioned
  3. I started a similar topic discussing agencies in Connecticut. I'm a NYC medic residing in Brooklyn and I'm trying to expand my horizons outside NY so far not so much luck with CT. Either the company isn't hiring or I would need a CT drivers license in order to work there, which I don't have. Looking at PA I found a few companies: Exeter Ambulance (Exeter township outside Reading) White Rose ambulance (york) Med-ex ambulance (halifax) Welcome ambulance (philly area) Suburban EMS (stroudsburg) If anyone has input on these or other companies that come to mind( ie pay experience working there etc etc.) I'm not picky but I would prefer a mix of 911 and transport (more transport with a little 911 here and there) thanks
  4. Does anyone here work for this company? And only those that do.....do you have a hook to get in because I filled out an application several weeks back and I spoke with a Mr Steve Gross I believe twice who happens to be so down to earth and really courteous and professional. However I ve been trying to get in touch with him and that seems to have become a mission impossible. I even stopped in unexpectadely one day while in the area to express my eunthisiam and interest and also hand a copy over of my new CT state card to which point he said he'll call me next week (this week tues) to set up an interview but still haven't heard anything. I sympathize with the gentleman because he's probably swarmed with assignments field work and office work etc but at the same time i need to have a job and work so i can pay some bills
  5. Also to point out you obviously don't fall into the turnover statistic you're stilled employed there. That means several things: you're damn good at what you do and they find a high value and purpose to retain you and you yourself found happiness and able to be comfortable there. If care1 or any company for that matter is plagued by a wave of bad employees that don't show up, call out, lateness, break policy rules and protocol... all on purpose, I call those skells.....and believe it or not I fell into that category. I was there back in 2010 was treated very well, given a full time schedule (my first as a medic since finishing school in 09) and I traded that for an EMT spot at a local hospital in brooklyn because of distance and higher pay except it was per diem I was treated like dirt by a poor management team, miserable coworkers and patients not to mention a ridiculous call volume and the stupidist of calls (EMS in nyc especially the poor neighborhoods is really a taxi service) and ever since then being plagued with constant work problems, its been an ongoing struggle. So who feels like an idiot in the long run: me of course ... fortunately I believe in a mercyful God which grants 2nd 3rd 4th etc chances so I'm patiently waiting
  6. Yikes I think my post was taken way out of context I sincerely apologize for that. Ill try to explain I was not directing the word skell at you, anyone you know or anyone at care1 in particular ( I happen to like the company I used to be there remember?) What I was trying to say though was that when I was there I recall a high turnover rate. My comment about skells was in question format, basically asking what's the reason of the turnover? Are "skells" being hired, then exposed, then fired? (Again not any companies particular fault except maybe to be extra thorough in the hiring process its inevitable that a few slip through the cracks not matter how intense the process) or are employees leaving willingly due to unhappiness and possibly a "greedy" feeling that they can get a better deal elsewhere? After that I pointed out that a fellow EMS company seems to retain a higher percentage of employees or so it seems and I just made the comparison. I have no doubt in my mind that you are not only an execellent medic but an outstanding employee your reputation travels far believe it or not. I also have no doubt in my mind that there are many more at care1 right now like you (I wish I was one of them) however if many ppl conclude the same impressions ie high turnover then that suggests there might be an underlying issue.... I was being very sincere and humble with my explanation hope it made sense.
  7. Well if there is a high turnover which I feel was the case with the old HVP what is the cause?: are the ppl they higher a bunch of skells and get cut loose (not really the companies fault except for not scrutinizing hirees more ) or do most of them quit for dislike of management or other unsettling issues , maybe thinking they might get better elsewhere (again maybe not totally the companies fault) its hard to please all the employees. I'm willing to bet though turnover rate at MLSS is prob much less then HVP/Care1EMS so MLSS might be doing something to keep a greater percentage happier that care1 should follow
  8. Never worked FDNY love the voluntaries but I knew ppl in nslij that the higher ups were hell bent on pt steering that no pt goes to another hospital...this is all what I heard.

  10. They have a website up? They still connected to Emergency amb in LI and owned by the account erik erin aron whatever his name is?
  11. Just had an interview with a Mr Nodar (very nice , upfront and down to earth guy ) up in fishkill for Care1. I used to work for them under HVP/Reg with Mr Rizzo as chief. Besides different color ambulances, according to Mr Nodar the differences are addition of a new base in yonkers (why?) All medics must be westchester remac as well as HV remac, and the majority of the management is long gone. Besides that can anyone comment on any other changes? Is the owner(s) still the same? Pay rates still the same? Operations? Equipment? etc etc.... basically besides new ambulances and faces what can I expect to be better or worse? I've seen some people mention the company on here saying they worked for care1 previously so any info at all will be greatly appreciated in advance. masterofmetal85 15 minutes ago Oh and hvp/reg website is still up does care1 have a website yet?
  12. Well according to The woman in THE other end of the phone she said revival is senior care something about they do emergencys? But senior care is so big what's the need for one or two extra ambulances under a different name? Is steve Z behind this ?
  13. whats the connection to senior care ems?
  14. Just saw a bus on the belt parkway east bound in bk with the name and logo of this company revival care I called the # to see if they were looking to hire medics thinking it was a new company and a lady from senior care answered anyone know what's up with that ?
  15. I had an interview with Hunter in meriden yesterday (Fri 1/27/11) it went very well except for the fact that the person interviewing me stated that a CT drivers license was needed to work there. He advised me to call the local DMV and inquire with them how to get one. After speaking with the DMV on the phone I was told I needed a CT address in order to obtain a license which makes sense, which inhibits me from gaining employment at Hunter. I then went to AMR @ bridgeport and spoke with an HR rep named Cindy (who happened to be a very nice person) she gave me an informal interview on the spot and I filled out the application but she said that a CT drivers license was needed within 31 days of hire. Then she backtracked and said that they have a person or two working @ bridgeport from NY and she would get back to me. So my questions are: does anyone know if a CT drivers license needed for every EMS agency in the state? Is there a way to bypass the ones that do with getting it without a CT address?
  16. I spoke with the HR rep @ amrbp and she said she's waiting to hear back from some other manager as to whether a ct drivers license is needed either within 31 days or 1 year because she doesn't know herself so.....
  17. I guess you're right its agency specific because Danbury Ambulance doesn't require it neither does ASM/Aetna still waiting to hear what the story is with AMR but I doubt they need one because I know someone who lives in the bronx and works per diem at the new haven location is any case thanks for the heads up
  18. I was in the area of waterbury and dropped my app off at Campion. The secretary at the desk was very nice and mentioned this agency Bristol Hospital EMS a private supposedly working out of the hospital in Bristol. I visited their website and they state they're very small with only 6 ambulances etc I located their contact number and called it and it lead me to Campions number. Does anyone know anything about this agency?
  19. ok if anyone could provide some help with a little information. I am in the process of getting my CT paramedic license through reciprocity from NY. I did some research and found some names of agencies within the state and most are hiring at the moment so I'm waiting for the license to come through online so I can start applying. In the meantime if anyone can shed light on these companies such as: 911 vs transport, salary, benefits, overall pros and cons Campion ASM Aetna AMR (bridgeport) AMR (New Haven same company but from what I heard run completely different from bridgeport) Hunter Access/Nelson Greenwich EMS Stamford EMS Madison Ambulance (town of madison) Thanks
  20. But being a medic is part of ems so that makes your statement a little confusing as far as pay (not that I should base it all on that) does anyone know pay rates for companies like campion,hunter,asm/aetna I know amr bridgeport starts@25 danbury ambulance is 20.98
  21. How is it working for them? And what exactly do they do? (911, transport etc) Do you know their rate of pay for paramedics?
  22. I guess nothing past Hartford someone mentioned Norwich thats to far
  23. So new haven als is through amr or FD?
  24. I mean if you were given your choice out of all those mentioned which one would you choose and why? ie which ones stand out as companies that emts and medics would run to go work for
  25. do any of the above stand out in working for them vs the others
