I don't think I'm the problem per say as a worker my dmv record is a little crappy no points but like 4 accidents (none of them my fault)

I did bro senior care tells me to check online but id take anything at this point as long as its paid not volunteer lol and a somewhat decent schedule(trying not to be picky ) as far as commuting anything within reason I guess an hour and a half or less

Ok and I told you what happened with each of the 3 are they the only 3 in a 50 mile radius of nyc that exist? There's plenty of small time companies that are around all I was asking was if anyone had any inside info about hiring next time I'll just spend a few hours and call each up individually With Ct all I was asking was details about pros and cons with each company...I called each one, filled apps for each one and went for interviews for the ones that called back just to be told that I can't be accepted because I don't have a ct drivers license

So again what are these agencies?

If numerous agencies are hiring what are their names that's what the whole point of my post was to find out....so who are they? Fyi SC is only hiring emts on their website which has been up since the website was started way back when

Tc I left on bad blood Sc always rejects my app maybe because I was at tc Empress I went on an interview nov/dec and got a no thank you letter Who's the smaller agency you work for Ps I got messed up in ct because they all wanted me to have a ct drivers license which as a ny resident I don't And nj I can only work as an emt because if you're not familiar with the reciprocity process I need to be hired by a hospital first sponsored with extra clinical hours basically its comparable to the lord of the rings quest and for their money is it worth it? I need a job now not next year

My source is me I worked several private companies in nj and was able to only with a ny card again as an emt only not a medic. I am a ny medic though but even if I was a ny emt I still could have. The nj doh says our cards are recognized in nj but for some reasons the hospitals won't hire unless the person has a nj emt card on them. As far as medic reciprocity that's a whole other nightmare with the t number etc et

I'm in nursing school and almost done ( getting a ASN) also a NY medic what decent companies are out in nj as far as working as an SCTU RN?

What i would love to know is as a NY EMT or Medic you can work for most if not all private EMS companies from the mom and pops all the way up to Alert Lifestar etc without going for any reciprocity using your ny card. However, if you want to work for a hospital system monoc atlantic atlanticare etc you need to do your reciprocity over to get a nj state card

Does anyone know if any private EMS transport companies or hospitals are hiring in the NYC Area ( 5 boroughs, LI, westchester etc)

I wouldn't be surprised. With the amount of heat I caught for a few words from you union people I could cook a turkey. Imagine in person in a work setting crossing a picket line with a bunch of angry RNs some going through menopause. I could see a bullet coming my way for that. But hey I wouldn't have integrity if I didn't stick to what I believed in. And most hospitals in nyc if not all are 1199 except for the city hospitals and the nurses have their own separate union within the hospital as I forgot the acronym.

FDNY EMS has a union but theyre starting medic rate is 43k and the emt rate is in the 30sK

I meant to say I hope you do know* I don't know what roads you saw but in brooklyn queens and staten island the roads were blocked for 8+ days my block included and my dad has a heart condition so I was praying that nothing happened while we were trapped. Plus I heard of a fire or two that raged with FDNY unable to access a pump or reach the fire. +

boy you sure love to judge me but hey its ok. I never applied to FDNY and turned down an opportunity I was using it as a rhetorical example and I do intend keep working for EMS be it private or maybe a hospital at some point down the line. But my main career will be as an RN hopefully working at a hospital, unfortunately being part of a union (an even worse one that openly supports Occupy wall St) I can't wait to see the list of enemies I'll be making just for opening my mouth and speaking a sentence about anti-union. If this is a foreshadowing of it I might invest in a bullet proof vest and maybe a firearm for personal defense walking to and from work in the parking lot.

My position is unions cause more harm then good as evident by more previous post regarding DSNY and the snow plowing halt. Unions tend to be corrupt from my research into them and those that disagree look at only the personal benefits as I previously stated. So in essence the object here is to combat corruption at the management level with corruption from unions. Whether you're aware and turning a blind eye or oblivious to it that is essentially what is occurring. Again nothing personal to you or any other posters here. I don't intend to attack anyone this is my opinion/revelation and I think the union concept as it stands needs to be scrapped and started all over again. Like I said again this bickering isn't solving anything EMS won't change unless I said happens actually happens. Unions won't change unless people become sick and tired of them and unfortunately aren't currently, and only look at the personal gain. So it is what it is.

I don't know the whole story I know the story told to me by a sanitation worker who is a friend of mine which is a source I wouldn't deem un-credible. In retaliation for a demotion of a number of foremen I don't recall how many but I believe 150 the union advised off the record of course the sanitation workers that the next snow storm no matter how big or small to park and do nothing. So I would really like to see you say good for them if they got their point across to the loved ones of all those who died (I do hope you know there was a large amount of deaths because of last years snow storms and the lack of plowing) because emergency crews weren't able to reach the emergencies from all the blocked roadways with snow. Real nice I guess this proves my point with union mentality... very self centered and power hungry.

I still don't see how I mistreated you personally unless you are a union organization, then I can see why you took everything so personal. In any case this constant bickering can go on and on but it still won't change the fact that EMS won't change tomorrow, next year or in our lifetime unfortunately it might even get worse.

you're right TC will say GFY because there's a couple hundred emts and medics that would be waiting to come on board. emts and medics are a dime a dozen these days the company doesn't care if you're a great or experienced EMT or medic in fact they'd rather hire the inexperienced ones for pay reasons. our bickering on here wont change the fact that ems wont change tomorrow next year or probably in our life time. It might even just keep getting worse

isn't that what unions advocate with Pickett lines and strikes? didn't the mta pull that off in dec 05 I believe with a strike initiated by their union bringing nyc to a screeching halt. Do I have to pull numbers of the damages that followed bet their union honcho wasn't thinking of that on his mind. or the snow storm of last year I have a friend on the inside of DSNY who said the union leader went to each garage right after the demotion of a bunch of foremen due to the city's budge and said when the next storm comes park your plows and turn off the ignition. Look what happened there. I was pointing out walk off or not you're just a # to any agency WE work for because of the low demand and high supply of medics and emts
