Let's not put the cart before the horse folks. This is a proposed new building and has not been set in stone. The current administration would like to put it where the Crossroads Shopping Center now stands. The problem is the shopping center is privately owned and the City will need to either purchase the property or take control by other means. That being said, it is not feasible to think that they will break ground this fall. There are still quite a few details that need to be worked out before this building comes to be. As far as cost, you are looking at over $15 million combining the actual construction costs and aquisition costs.

On Saturday August 15 the completed pieces of the Sam Oitice 9/11 memorial will be erected at the Riverfront Green Park in Peekskill. Pieces are slated to be transported to the site today and construction will begin Saturday morning. Stop by,take some pictures and enjoy what promises to be a great memorial to the First Responders lost on 9/11 and the 7 Peekskill volunteers lost on 8/1/1918 at the Fleischmann's plant in a grain warehouse fire and subsequent collapse.

That, the WCVFA parade the following week and there are other "Celebration" activities that day at the riverfront. Crowd may not be that large watching the parade if a large group of folks are attending the Dragon Boat races and Peekskill Celebration. Gives the powers that be running the Quad, their parade, but keeps costs for attending agencies as low as is possible.
-
Parade is at 2pm - running the July 4th south route to Depew Park - no trophies - will be a "community" parade run as a combination of July 4th and St Patricks - nothing formal All Peekskill companies that wish to participate will march as 1 unit at the beginning of the parade, with politicians, PD and EMS - service, civic, school, religious and neighboring FD's and EMS units will round out the next 2 maybe 3 divisions.

Picture is a view of the construction of the two bases closest will be for the statue and monolith with Sam's gear. The furthest is for the bell tower and bell.
