  1. That's it. It's ex-New Farifield, CT. I've heard that Hartsdale might consider keeping this ladder as a spare.

  3. An interesting case. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/06/08/chicago-district-attorney-recording-bad-cops_n_872921.html?ref=email_share
  4. Nice craftmanship and very prominent way to honor 9/11 http://www.lohud.com/article/20110603/NEWS04/106030328/Brothers-9-11-Gate-gets-Mahopac-firehouse-dedication-tonight
  5. Looks like they love their Quantums! It looks like they took down the fence to get to the exposure pretty quick. And what is Jollyville FD? Were they mutual aid?
  6. If a department puts an apparatus spec out for bid, and only one manufacturer puts in the bid, under NYS law are you required to re-bid it, or can you accept the bid? It's longstanding that many departments spec out specific manufacturers for legit reasons, but others not so legit. Also, if a Chief, Commisioner, or any other person on the apparatus commitee works or does business with the bidder, does that play into NYS Law/?
  7. It does seem like Sleepy Hollow PD, FD, and EMS are always in the news for the wrong reasons. It's really sad, because it overshadows all the good things about Sleepy Hollow. Now, they are saying he's responsible for more fires: http://www.lohud.com/article/20110429/NEWS02/104290344/Sources-say-firefighter-arson-suspect-facing-more-charges?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|Frontpage Who knows, it's still innocent until proven guilty in the country last I heard. And it's not the first time Sleepy Hollow has tried to demonize the fire department.

  10. What concerns me is who governs them? Are they part of a response protocol, and have assigned roles? Who dispatches them? Who certifies them as an orginization? Who do they report to on scene, and how does the IC use them? Or do they just do what every emergency management agency reccomends NOT to do.....freelance?
  11. Didn't you move in 2008, right before the economy tanked? How did you select Austin, TX? By the way, the story is on the front page.
  12. Thank you guys for all that you do! I can't believe how much this forum has grown over the years!
  13. I think Yonkers FD definetly "wowed" everyone in attendance and showed them how capable they are. It was nice to see all the other agencies as well and what they are doing. This event is a really good idea and has grown nicely, would have liked to see some more agencies there though.
  14. Well, this pretty much sums up the Village's stance: http://www.tarrytowngov.com/Pages/TarrytownNY_TrusteesMinutes/I02A2674D Will they have to renovate the firehouse to make room for this engine?
  15. While Hartsdale's TL-15 is at Seagrave in Wisconsin getting major repair or who knows what they decided to due, I believe they were looking to rent or buy New Fairfield's old 198? Seagrave 100' rearmount. Haven't heard much more. Does anyone know if Hartsdale took possesion of this truck? If so, from bits and pieces I have heard, whoever purchased it and was operating it at the time was involved in an MVA recently where it ran off the road into a yard. I know the rear axle was bad, was this a mechanical failure? And is everyone OK?
  16. This article gives an interesting perspective: http://www.thechief-leader.com/news/2008-02-15/letters/029.html
  17. THANK YOU Seth and staff! I know many people that would be lost without this site. I remember once you shut it down for an hour and people freaked out. It's also noteable that when major events happens, that people immediately think EMTBravo. You guys do a great job! And not many websites can say they have almost the same webteam they had from the start! Here's to 6 and many more!!
  18. Great shots, Seth! No fire trucks though???
  19. Wow, different from the rumor I heard. I heard George Glover (former EFD chief) was coming out of retirment.... And is the fire chief different from the commisioner? Is that who selected the chief?
  20. Over $1,000,000 to hire? Can anyone shed any light on this? http://cms.firehouse.com/funding_xls/conte...6&year=2008
  21. "Civilians Guide To AFD" (Interesting read) http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/fire/downloads/civilian051103.pdf OR http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/fire/downloads/civilian051103.doc I'm sure Seth can shed more light on this for us...
  22. Heard a rumor that Hartsdale FD has a new Chief? Can anyone confirm?
  23. I've got to say, I remember when Yonkers FD had a very bad reputation in the Volunteer Fire Service's eyes in the late 90's, before this forum. I think JFLYNN is the second Yonkers FD DC to get this award. And their are many other Yonkers FF's and officers on this site who willingly post and share information, and are respectful whether you're career or volunteer. Thanks to Yonkers FD and the members on here, from billfitz to JFLYNN to batt2 and everyone else, I learn each time I read your postings. I also wouldn't have known all the resources available to me if I needed them if it wasn't for this site. So, thanks to EMTBrav.com for for helping to dispell the myths about Yonkers FD and allowing voices and facts to be heard. Congrats JFLYNN.....do you and BATT2 get a special car now??
