  1. I know this was a hot issue during the commisioners elections, but haven't heard any news lately....Are they going to be going foward with building their firehouse at a new location? Also, though it's not the correct forum, while I'm here I might has well ask. I heard Bedford has a new ambulance on order?
  2. Absolutely, you get paid like firefighters should, and you get to see work! I wish I could move to Yonkers!
  3. I'm looking foward to more. There are so many training issues to be disucssed in this county, and so many oppurtunities wasted
  4. I think this isn't just a problem in Dobbs Ferry. It's a problem all overthe country and in Westchester.
  5. Wouldn't a physical conflict comprimise your safety, not to mention your protective gear, in this situation? If there is only two of you, and he puts up a good fight, how would you safely get him and yourself out?

  7. Some people are discussing the Yonker's FF Salaries on new 12's board: http://forum.news12.com/ubbthreads/showfla...sb=5&o=&fpart=1
  8. Can somebody explain the purpose of the chrome ball that's signature to the Ahren Fox's?....I've often wondered what it was for.
  9. I like the new site. Do you sell First Gear products? Also, I hear you have custom and other models in your store that aren't available online? And, any idea when C3 Collectors day is this year yet? Sorry for so many questions, just curious.
  10. Excellent Pictures! What type of camera do you use?
  11. I'd probaly try to identify what our weakest area was, and try to improve on that, first and foremost. I know the bread and butter skills can be boring, but there's got to be a way to make those kind of drills more interesting.
  12. You never know what you're gonna get.
  13. The details off this incident seem kinda sketchy. However, I am reading or Firehouse.com of a Paramedic that was shot and seriously injured while approaching a residence on a call. And just last week, a FF Medic was killed by a gunshot wound on a call in Lexington, Ky. http://cms.firehouse.com/content/article/a...nId=46&id=26603
  14. There's also live FDNY EMS audio available here: http://www.kb2mxv.com/scanner.asx
  15. Here is the announcement for the position (in MS Word Format): http://www.putnamcountyny.com/personnel/Ex...atcher%20OC.doc
  16. The Daily News book contains some awesome photographs of FDNY from past to present. Worth the money next time your at Barnes and Nobles. They really do get some of the best action photo's in the city. There photographers must also be buffs
  17. Some great points made here. But what about the cost of living in Westchester? Some people simply can't afford to live in the communities with VFD's. Those who can "aren't the type" for volunteer FF'ing or don't have time.
  18. Greenville has gotten another dog ( i don't think their original dog died, I think he retired) , and see this thread: http://emtbravo.just5buckshosting.com/phpB...topic.php?t=524
  19. From News12.com I love German Shepards and the name! Welcome Blaze!
  20. I wonder if that 95' foot tower for Mount Vernon would be (or will be) an Aerialscope?
  21. I have a BC-780XLT, works great. I was considering the Pro-96, but I really don't listen to agencies that use digital (If you can even get it to pick up digital). Plus, Radio Shack just copies everything Uniden does. Uniden is the best you can get. Another thing that strayed me away from the Pro-96 was the limitations of a portable scanner for me. This base can do everything I need and want, except make breakfast, and I have a low-end portable Uniden as well, which is great for toting around as needed. For my primary listening, which is Fire and sometimes aricraft, the 780 fits my needs perfectly, and it does EVERYTHING. My next step is to figure out how to use a software interface with it. As for antennas, I was considering a discone, but decided to shy away from that idea due to the complexity that an installation/tuning can present, especially where I lived and had only one place to put the antenna. I've heard people have a lot of trouble with interference and loss with these as well. I use a simple larger car type multi band antenna which I mounted to the gutter of my house and my reception is great.
  22. Like an FDNYTrucks.com for the LA area: http://www.angelfire.com/ca4/chucksfirepics/index.html They have some nice apparatus out there on the left coast!
  23. Purchase still has their Quad, don't they?
