  1. Its not always possable to park out of the flow of traffic. There are many areas in my district where I have no choice but to block a lane. Also think of when transporting, You dont always transport RLS, but may have to drive slower than the flow of traffic. The chevrons help you be seen by drivers with out having to use your lights that may cause a "ripple effect".
  2. so we really need to have this conversation again? As heilcopper said, this pot being stirred need not... There are much bigger wastes of money out there. we in westchester are blessed for what we have. Think of the "have nots" in the country.
  3. easy way to do it... mount them where they wont be in the way of the air bags or passengers and find some lo pro lights... if they dont fit you dont need them. i have a visor light and grill light and some rear strobes and a light in the back window (stop alot on the parkways). there is such a thing as overkill!
  4. Great shot as usual. Looks like they had quite a bit of work when they got there!
  5. Might not have found someone yet but when you do you'll be glad you had the TIC with you. Seen a couple found with it upstate.
  6. Had the same thought!
  7. Great shots guys! Bill as always your skill with a camera amazes me! Well done all on scene.
  8. Great shots Frank. Lets keep those in Mass in our prayers!
  9. My mother is a big time photo buff. She rented a few lenses from someone. I'll ask her who it was and PM the info to you. She had no problems with them and said the lense selection was "totally awesome!"
  10. Not sure how all the LEO's here feel about it but I'm sure they would do the right thing. I did work an accident a few years back where the suspect rolled his car over several times and on arrival with the ambulance there was an officer holding c-spine and his partner was using a BVM.
  11. Should be able to make it. sent you a PM.
  12. Sorry to correct your correction but I thinks it's "the driver might dispose of the materials properly".
  13. So a series of recent events have made me start to scratch my head and wonder "what the heck is going on around here?" I was raised with the old tradition of respecting others property and cleaning up after myself. There have been some recent incidents in my volunteer agencies where others have made some "messes" and forgot that their mothers aren't there to clean up after them. (this is not a dig at any one person, just a general observation so don't get upset, you know who i am talking about) Is this just a local problem I am seeing or does this happen everywhere? When I was working as a career EMT I would flip my lid if someone left a mess for me to clean. If you could find out who the slob was (and not the elusive sly little devil know as "Not Me") they would get written up and face suspension. How do you all deal with these "not mes"? What consequences (if any at all) do they face? Is anyone else tired of sitting is someone elses filth? Sorry, Just needed to vent for a min. Anyone else need to shout?
  14. I hope someone picks it up! Wasn't that show started to find the person who killed John Walsh's son? There have been MANY arrests from leads on AMW, shame to see it go.
  15. Not a bad idea you guys had there... Can you PM me the specs for these? I have been trying to get a couple bikes for my vac for a while for the special events and trails we cover.
  16. Great shots seth! Noticed the "O'Hare Towing" jacket hanging in one of the pics, made me realize how much i miss the show "wrecked".
  17. My department uses speedy dry most (all) of the time. We do have something called "petrotech". I have yet to see it used (after having it on the rescue for about 9 years) and dont know how well it works. It supposedly breaks down the methelethel bad stuff in petrolium based products and make it "safe" to wash down the drain... Anyone ever seen/heard of this product being used?
  18. Is it as soon as next year? The guy that I deal with for my cell said 2013... Whatever it is they sure aren't as good as they used to be! strange thing is I hear Boost mobil is going to keep the PTT feature and they seem to be an up and coming carrier with the best deals right now. I'm thinking of switching to them because of the $50 a month everything plan they offer compared to sprints $100 a month plan. Anyone have any thoughts about them?
  19. I second that... Might take a few times but usually works pretty good.
  20. Though an interesting idea there seem to be too many issues with this. First issue I see is if I donate to this cause, I would expect to see this truck in NY. If a member in CA donates, he would expect to see this truck in CA. Location... issue #1. Next, Who would operate the rig? Would it be run by the emtbravo admin staff? could any member of emtbravo drive it? Staffing... issue #2. And now, maintnance. As was already said, this forum can barely keep its self afloat, How can it be expected that the members will donate on a regular basis to keep this idea going? Money... issue #3. I am not trying to rain on your parade but as you can see there are some concerns here. If you would like, PM me and we can go alittle deeper with this. I do like the idea of having an EMTbravo engine (or ladder) but there are some wrinkles in the plan so to speak.
  21. In my years of working with my brother as a general contractor there is one thing I have Deffinately been able to bring with me to the fire service... "THE POWER IS NEVER OFF!" There have been many times that we have been told by the electrician (who is a long time friend and we trust with our lives) that he has turned off the power to a room or sometimes an entire house and still manage to see sparks fly after a line is cut. Generators are very common as seth has said but for the most part the power they are supplying can be shut down with the throw of a transfer switch (if you can find it) or killing the unit with the emergency shutdown. I carry a simple tester with me to check outlets, switches etc. for those "smell of electrical burning" calls. Greenly makes a very good and reliable tester available at home depot for about $15. The best way I have found to ensure power is off is to simply assume it isn't. Stay safe folks.
  22. Good job to the civilians who came to the officers assistance. It's good to see someone who is still on the side of the police these days!
  23. This is a historical day for the US. God bless all those lost in this long fight against al quida. Keep your eyes and ears open brothers and sisters. This is long from over! Stay safe and lets watch eachothers backs!
