heyIwas unsure of the answer so I figured that I would ask around and see if anybody could answer it. Since I am the person in charge of the fast team training in my department I was wondering if the new fire building (with the propane) can be used without hand lines. I want to have a fast training with search and rescue but I don't want the team to have to do fire surpression as well just the search and rescue. But I"m unsure of the rules that the county have set up while using the burn building. It's not to often that you get to do a fast training and have heat in the room while conducting a search. So if anybody has any info just post it for me, and thank you in advance for the help.......

yea I'm all for the search with zero visibility but I just want to add some heat. Not to melt face shields or helmet fronts, just enough to feel it through the jacket. Makes everyones blood flow differently when searching through conditions like these.....

WOW considering the amount of damage Everyone is very lucky to come out ok from this one. I'm guessing that the driver of the tanker was wearing his seatbelt.

According to the articles in my book it says the call came in @02:30 and the date was November 26,1996 and I believe the address to be 55,57 and 59 South Moger ave.

Alright so here I go, I wiill reply to my own post. Of course I'm going to say that the chiefs cars in the hills are best suited for what we need. I like the way the way all three of them are set up. I can actually remember back when I was a kid and my father was an asst. chief, the department only had one chiefs car. It was used from the Bedford pd and was (if I am correct) the old dog catchers car. But enough of that back to the thread I like the traditional red car with white strip. But I would be curious to see a chiefs car with the white over red just like our rigs. (if somebody knows where to look let me know) The Suburban is a great chies car but I think that we could get away with having a tahoe insted. Now the F 350's that we have are great to an extent. They have many useses but lack one thing. It it by far a hard task to set up command with them. With the burban you can use the rear of it but with the truck you are limited to the cab of the truck. Unless there was a cap on the rear, then you lose the full use of the bed. But just like anything else it all works out in the end. By the way the command boards are a must fot a chiefs car. They work very well and help tremendously, as I learned at the train accident. If you know me then you know that I am a fan of light shows. But sometimes too many kills the effect and the look of the car. There is nothing better then having a decent light show whith enough warning power for people to see, and for it to look good. So there it is I'll probablly reply later with more but my fingers are tired of typing....

I just wanted to bring up this topic and see what people on the board thought as well as how their departments operate and respond to alarms. We all know that there are countless automatic alarms both commercial and residental throughout the fire service. Now my questions are as follows. How does your dept respond to auto alarms, (does your oic tell you to 10-20, remain in quarters or does the apparatus make it to the call). If your apparatus arrives on scene does the crew get off the rig to investigate the alarm, or do they remain on the rig while someone else checks it out. Does the crew get off off of the rig prepared (tools/airpacks)? What does the oic/officer do if a dispatcher calls to inform the incomming units that there is one of the following. (food on the stove, workmen on location, steam from the shower ect.....) No one has to answer all of the questions just curious as to how things go down in other depts. I'll let some posts go by before throwing in my 2 cents.....lol

Just a question for the departments who have their members driving to fire scenes. How does a department decide to allow their members to drive to the scene, and who makes the decission? I can understand why departments with paid drivers have the members drive to the scene but not other departments. I assume that their are bennifits as well as down falls to both but I would think that it would be easier to respond to the fire station and man the rigs.

believe it or not I have seen a couple of shots in the past years that show some sort of object in flame or smoke (or what looks like an object). There was one a couple of years ago that was a big commercial fire (don't know where) in a fire house mag that had a shot of a big firefighter in the flame. It's cool when you can find it.

seth, check out the flames coming from the left side of the image. looks like a firefighter. Prety cool!!!!!!!!!!! GREAT FIND FIRE BUFF

what would the class k fire be and what is the extinguishing agent in the extinguisher?
-
On the engines as well as the mini attack we have a dry chem, water can (just water), a Foam can (water and foam concentrate), and a class D. On the tower ladder we have a water can on the outside of the rig on both the passenger and drivers side as well as a water can in the bucket. On the rescue we have (I believe a water can as well as a dry chem. And in each of the chiefs cars we have water can and a dry chem. :blahblah:
