  2. I think it's a great idea!!!!!!!!!! If you have nothing to hide there shouldn't be any problems with it!!!!!
  3. I don't know if I should believe any of this. At least I got a good laugh from the story and from all the comments. Did you catch the last name of the victims.........."GOATS"
  4. Is this for the 2004 video, because I can't find the 2005 video. Or is it still in the process of being made?
  5. I've seen this clip before somewhere on the web and it actually had sound to it. The worst part of the video was the reaction by the kids. They were all screaming and crying when the firefighters were pulled out and they were on fire. What could they be possible be thinking when they did this, wait a minute they probably don't know how to think. I would love to be able to see more to this clip. Just to see how they went ahead and tried to explain what had happened to the crew, I can only imagine..........I hope those children in the crowed were not scared for life........

  8. A friend who is on the job overheard a couple of probies saying that before they entered the academy they needed 60 college credits. I was told that I needed only 30 and after checking the website I still see the 30 and not 60. Can anyone enlighten me. While on the subject of college credits, I took many fema classes online and I have all the certificates with me. My question is which school should I call to transfer all these classes into actual college credits. I am going to start to look on the web but I thought if someone else has done so already that it would save me a little time in searching. Thanks for the help.

  14. I figured that I had not seen a thread on chiefs cars that I would start one. Just wanted to know what everybody thought of chiefs cars? As far as what make and model is best suited for the job, how you would set one up. Which is your favorite around, color, lights :blahblah: I could go on forever just write about anything.
  15. It might be 60 control releasing the knox box key for a department. When a unit in the field has a knox box system in place in their district 60 control can release a key in either a piece of apparatus or a chiefs car. It is released by a set of tones that sound just like someone dialing a phone. Once the key is released the unit in the field can access the knox box at that location. I hope this is what you were looking for if anybody has a more technical way of describing it please feel free to help me explain better.

  17. I work at John Jay high school in cross river and they have defib's all around the school, as well as each coach for a team is issued a defib to carry to the game or practice. The ones in the school aren't locked but are enclosed in a box which when opened makes a loud buzzing sound. Everyday the custodian who opens the building has to check each wall unit to verify that the battery is ok and that everything is with the unit. (Disposable razor, gloves, face mask and the pads for child/adult) As far as I know they train whoever wants to do it as well as it's manditory for some like the gym/sport instructors. I believe that when the students learn CPR they also learn how to operate the dfib. All the custodians that I work with also have been CPR/ DEFIB trained since we are always there.
  18. THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS GO OUT TO THE FAMILY MEMBERS AND FRIENDS OF THE FALLEN FIREFIGHTER.........
  19. While watching tv tonight there was a commercial on discovery about a show called "Firehouse USA (BOSTON)". I believe it is going to air next Tuesday on discovery. If I get the chance I will check the discovery web site for more info. It looked cool with actual footage of on scene fire calls, I guess we will see what comes of it............ [-o<
  20. I've never been so upset listening to the scanner, as I was tonight. Croton Falls fd was dispatched to a report of a piaa involving a motorcycle on fire and into a telephone pole. The first chief on scene reported multiple victims and requested a launch for stat flight. During the opps of the accident/ set up for a landing zone there was a person on 46.26 almost critiquing the entire incident and all of the decissions that the ic was making. Whatever the person was doing on the radio was uncalled for and was WRONG. What if while this JACK--- was talking on the radio there was an important radio transmission that had to be heard by either on scene personell or 60 control. Somehow this person had a radio of somesort and was able to speak on 46.26, Does that mean that he is a fellow firefighter and just sitting around talking crap. DO ME, THE OTHER OFFICERS AND FIRE DEPT MEMBERS IN THE COUNTY A FAVOR AND STAY OFF THE RADIO DURING AN INCIDENT. There are plenty of other ways to speak your mind without interfering with a serious accident where fellow brothers are trying to help someone live. BY THE WAY IT"S JUST MY TWO CENTS!!!!!
  21. As an officer in the engine co responding to a structure fire, auto alarm or anything involving a building I have the driver of the engine usually pass the building and set up just beyond it. Just like other officers (hopefully) not only do I think of the placement of the rig that I'm in, but the rigs that will be coming in behind me. I have the driver leave plenty of room for the other responding apparatus. The reason that I have the driver of the first due engine pull past the building is SIZE UP of the structure. At least when the rig passes I can see the majority of the building and get a feel for what is going on, as well as what the building is like (ie. size, type, amount of building involved, egress ect....). Then when the ladder comes in they can position themselves acordingly. And if it's a long haul (beyond the 200' of attack line) we have about 400 to 50 0 feet of three in hose with a gate on the end of it to connect any apt pack onto.
  22. I don't know if anyony caught it but it was on the news 7 tonight, I missed most of it but it will probablly be on again at 11pm

  24. I don't understand what you mean by "too flashy." It's got the same basic stripe that all of our apparatus has with the execption of having the car numbers on them. The lights are really nothing special and nothing that anyone else doesn't already have. The interior is the same as any other chiefs car in the area. As far as us trying to say that we are better then anyone else, I don't know where u get that from. Why??????? I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHERE YOUR COMING FROM :-k
  25. Our mini attack before the one we have now (not sure the make or year) is actually a drilling truck of some sort. I'm not sure what they drill for but when I first joined there was talk that it was on a job site in Bedford Village. So a buddy and I went and found it, I'll try to dig up some photos if I can find them. I wasn't sure if you had meant the 1989 saulsbury or the one before it.
