My question about being a volunteer, was just an inquiry as to whether or not it would be possible to be both NYSP and a volunteer firefighter. I would never turn down a career because of a volunteer opportunity. Everyone has to make a living and live their life with their needs in mind.

Don't shoot me for asking this but...... what is the situation with volunteering if you are a New York State Trooper? Is it prohibited or frowned on by the union??????? This topic has come up in many conversations and no one has had the definite answer. I remember seeing on the trooper website that a trooper from Milan NY (if I remember correctly) who was also a volunteer firefighter recieved and award for his service in the community, but I'm not sure if he was grandfathered in or not. The one problem with RF is that it is interfered by large amounts of metallic surfaces because they reflects the waves. I am sure Scott has worked this out but this system may not work well in industrial applications. I can't say for sure but that is what I know from my manufacturing classes at college. I was wondering if anyone has heard anything about this, and or has used this. Have the high heat malfunctions that the PASS Alarms are prone to been worked?

DO NOT DO IT Vista is basically a glorified version of XP there are very very few major upgrades. Basically Vista is a combination of the good features from every other OS on the market, Microsoft basically stole every one's ideas. Most software is NOT compatible with Vista, and there are also a lot of problems with drivers. I put Vista on my computer and I disliked it so much that I switched back to XP.
