That was the point, he said wouldn't an Amber LED with a Blue Lens Cover turn them green, the video was just to show that it doesn't turn them green.

At Darien EMS we have on spots on all 3 ambulances and we have a set of real tire chains for each also, we put the chains on at around 3-4 inches of snow. The chains work really well for us but we get a lot of use out of our on spots also after the storm when it is still pretty bad in the outer parts of town when we don't want to have to deal with the restrictions placed on the ambulance during transport with tire chains on. The rumble and bumping of the chains can be a hinderance to patient care.

The Chief should have taken it one step further. Moving his vehicle as the trooper requested would have created an unsafe situation for the fire personnel. When there is a medical or fire call and there is an armed gunman, do firefighters and EMS personnel enter the scene before the police secure it. NO! Same should apply on the highway. Passing traffic is just as dangerous as someone with a gun. The moment the trooper said he was going to arrest the Chief, all fire and rescue personnel should have been ordered off the highway and returned to quarters by the Chief since the scene would no longer be secure. Any patients they were working on should have been told they were being ordered off the highway and the State Police would be taking over patient care. I hope the Chief is serious about not responding to the highway in the future until the troopers all get the message about safety. If the big hats want to dictate how the scene will be run, let them run it by themselves. Remember, it is the taxpayers in the North Merrick Fire District that pay for the fire dept, not the state police and not the out of town motorists passing through on the parkway, so I am sure the Chief will not be pissing off very many local residents.

Where I live, which is pretty far away from everyone else on this forum, County 911 always tones out FD for all MVA's, whether its a Code 2 (MVA w/o injuries) or Code 4 (MVA w/ injuries). On Code 2's FD responds for traffic control without lights or sirens. On Code 4's EMS and FD respond. At my FD when we get paged out for a Code 2 we send our utility truck for TC and for a Code 4 we send a rescue (1st) and usually engine depending on how many people show up. Just a little info on how things go down here.

Never really got to see what FDNY FF's put up with when responding to a call, usually you just see a video of a batt. car going somewhat easy through traffic or an engine or ladder getting stuck behind a car for a second, but with this kinda view you get to see it all.

I just said im not a big fan of the small front bumper, never said I didnt like the truck itself, just like the old bumpers better so just chill out. And my bad on the whole Outrigger thing, wasnt exaclty sure what they were specifically called.

Very Nice! I like how the older TL trucks had the bigger front bumper with the outriggers on it, not a big fan of the small bumper on the new ones.
