DONATIONS NEEDED - URGENT CHARITY FUNCTION PLEASE READ BELOW FOR DETAILS OR TO DONATE THE CODY PROJECT: The Wappingers Falls Police Department, K9 Unit, has recently been hit with a hard blow. The Departments K9 "Cody", was recently diagnosed with a Canine version of ALS (Lou Gherigs Disease). Cody, has been with the Wappingers PD, working side-by-side with his handler, Officer Ashworth, for over 6 years now. Cody, is the second dog that Officer Ashworth has worked with at Wappingers Police. His first partner, MAX, a German Shepherd Police Dog, suffered a line of duty injury and had to be put down. Cody has been with Officer Ashworth for over 6 years helping to keep Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, and the surrounding towns and villages safe. The K9 unit responds to calls for assistance from Wappingers Falls Police, Dutchess County Sheriffs Office, New York State Police and many other law enforcement agencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Officer Ashworth and the Department are now in the process of having to purchase and acquire a new Canine. The cost of the new canine, with training, is over $11,000.00 Dollars. Wappingers Falls Police Department is now taking donations to help offset the costs for the department to acquire this new Canine. Although this is an extremely sad and heart wrenching time for Officer Ashworth and The Wappingers Falls Community the necessity of the Canine and his importance and role in keeping the community safe is first and foremost. Wappingers Falls Police and K9 Handler Officer Ashworth will be extremely grateful for every donation they receive. Every donation is extremely helpful regardless of its size. OUR PART: Hudson Valley Emergency Outfitters, INC. is currently taking up a collection for THE CODY PROJECT. 100% of all donations will be given to The Wappingers Falls Police K9 Unit. If you would like to make a donation you can do so at www.hudsonvalleyemergency.com, through our donation center. Once you click on the donation you would like to make, you will be brought to our Community Outreach PAYPAL payment center, where you can make your donation securely via Credit Card or your PayPal Account. @xfirefighter484x: You are correct in saying that DCSO, POK, and NYSP have K9 units. To my knowledge, TOF does not have one, I know that they have a dog control vehicle, but it is not a K9 unit. I may be wrong, however, I have looked at their fleet many times and never seen a K9 vehicle. That's not to say it is not there, it simply could have been out on the road or home with the driver, when I've looked at the fleet. However, I'm 90% certain they don't have one, I will check and advise tho k. Now I do know that the Town of EAST Fishkill has a K9 Unit, as well as the City of Beacon I believe also. The K9 Units are decently spread out throughout the county, but when one goes down, it rips a piece of the entire collective, and puts a load onto the surrounding units to cover. This is another reason why getting a new K9 for Wappingers Falls, is so crucial and time sensitive, at least that's my humble opinion.

@efdcapt: Thanks for your advice. I believe that the wfpd is looking into grants to help, but I will definitely put the suggestion out there to them, as it can only help. The only problem I can see with the grant, is that they take time to write and get approved, the need to get and train a new canine may not be able to wait for that amount of time, I think. While grant money would be great to recover funds laid out (if you can use them for that, not sure if you can), I don't think it would come in soon enough to be the funding source.

Rest in Peace

Thanks, i been a little busy today. didnt have a chance to get on here to answer that one lol. Yes the rear lights on the hatch were removed and replaced the colors were changed also to stop the lights from blinding the oncoming traffic. the way the console was originally set up was unsafe and hazardous to the safety of the driver.to uuse the light and siiren or the radios you had to look away from the road to see the controls, they "a" radio and Siren/light controller were originally mounted to the rear of the console by the back of the seat rather then the front of the console where it is now mounted.
-
Agreed i like them also, they serve many roles.
-
It is for the EMS Chief of the UVFD. To my knowledge, given the equipment it carries it is a BLS Flycar, there is no ALS equipment onboard and the Operator is an EMT

Outstanding Job, In looking over the pictures i see a lot of subtle details and little things that make a huge difference to the customer. Overall a very nice job, and i sgree with the above post about the chevrons on the doors, youd be surprised how many people dont think to do that. Best of luck with the new delivery. In response to the multiple statements about ordering stock to save money, i agree, this was a very smart move on the departments end, and i can probably guess they saved a very nice chunk of change. Congrats on a job well done.

Thanks. This Car really did turn out nice, one of my Favorite ones to date that we have done. I have to admit, working on this one was a lot of late night and man hours, but it was also very enjoyable. the group we have makes doing these installations a lot of fun, and ensures that everything is done correctly. Noone can know everything, but a group of someones can cover all the bases together.
-
HAHAHA, thanks for the compliment too, i am very pleased with how it turned out. You dont get the full effect from the photos, but this car Definately looks SWEET!!
-
Lol The bay is a work in progress, as you can see in the pics the walls arent even painted yet, tho it is a finished Garage. But yea, it does need to have some good pics put up on the walls when its all finished. haha
-
The Village of Fishkill Uses this Car, However they are a part time department, so when they are not patroling, the State Police Covers the Village. Also their Computer and Radio systems are Linked with the State Police, it is for this reason that they use th 7K Designator.

While i do agree that eventually children have to think for themselves and take responsibility for their own actions, It is still the parents job to think for their child when their child can not or will not think for themself. Also its the parent job to step in when a kid is obviously out of control. But then again i still say parents should be able to spank a child from time to time also, within reason, and screw what the CPS says. If i ever said to my father im gonna call CPS if you hit me, he'd have back handed me clear into next week and handed me the phone and said "here call an ambulance while your at it" lol. The lack of parental discipline on children and adolescents reflects the fact that society has given more power to children then to parents. A good spanking from time to time isnt the worst thing in the world, especially if its well deserved. I dont remember hearing about crap like this (Children out of control) in the 70's and 80's yea there were drug problems, but the child damn well knew their place and had respect. just one mans oppinion tho. Also they didnt close the schools because of concerns over a few trouble makers, they closed the schools due to a massive fight that left people seriously injured and i believe at least one person dead, not sure about that one tho, and it spilled into the schools, and it currently is sstill unclear as to why it started or how many people were involved and who those individuals were, as not everyone involved is currently known. so thats why they closed schools as a precaution to prevent further injury. at least that is my understanding of the situation. i may be wrong, but to my knowledge thats what happened. If any one knows differently please share as i am always looking to have the facts right and dont want to go on record if mine are not fully accurate.

64FFMJK YOU HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD BRO! The problem again comes back to parental responsibility, regardless of what grade these students are in, you cant honestly expect a child to constantly think ahead about how their actions will impact their lives or to say hey thats not a good idea, or somethings not right here maybe i should say something to someone. PARENTAL RESPONSIBILITY!! It is up to the parents to THINK FOR the children. That after all is the point of PARENTING, to raise a Well rounded and productive member of society. I understand that they have many outside influences, like TV, and Music, not to mention that celebrities send the completely wrong message. However, again it all comes back to good parenting, i watched and listened to the same tv shows as the "trouble makers" in my school did, i listened to eminem talk about killing people and commiting suicide, however my parents made it abundantly clear that they were not the norm in society and 90% probably more, but 90% for arguments sake of what you see and hear is just for show, and not actually something they did or want you to do. Regardless, there is a responsibility on the parents end to guide their children in the right direction and make it clear to them that unlike in tv and music, when you kill someone, you dont get out of jail when the song or episode is over. I really do wonder where the parents are and what is going throught some of their heads. V85 makes a goood point also, the ones who do have the foresight to think and decide to stay home are the ones who were never a threat to anyone to begin with.
-
You know not for nothing but it really makes you wonder where the parents are and what they are teaching their kids, if this stufff is in the schools, i remember the days when i could walk to school without any worries, and also i NEVER had ANY police presence in any schools i went to, only time i heard of that stuff was in the City in the PS's. you would think that in the after math of columbine, that parents and schools would make a more conscious effort to teach their children better and get more involved. But again as usual america has forgotten it, and gotten back into their "I feel safe" slump. Props to the local and higher up police agencies for stepping up so quickly to prevent a repeat of that incident and making an effort since obviously school administrators cant be trusted to look for this kind of propencity in students, and parents are obviously sucking at life. SAD.

In Dutchess county several of the smaller Departments, including Wappingers falls, hire pt's. In fact if you get yourself into the academy, after phase 1 is completed, they will sponsor you from the beginning of Phase 2 forward to graduation, so you might wanna get in touch with them and find out more info, i know thw college (OCCC) offers the course and it is relatively inexpensive compared to the other ones out there. Good Luck.
