  5. Just a little FYI it happened today P.D. was sent to a house for an activated fire alarm. 4 minutes went by officer on scene to "check and advise" 2 more minutes go by officer on scene asks if F.D. was notified HQ asks what do you have, officer on scene says the house is filled with smoke no one home. HQ will notify F.D. We get dispatched for smoke in the structure turns out the homeowner left a pot on the stove and went out to the city. Small fire knocked down with a can. I MEAN REALLY WTF!!!! I called the P.D. to ask what was going on they gave me the run around. Time for a board meeting. THIS IS GOING TO STOP!!!! just had to vent. FFD55... good idea going to look into getting that set up asap. Thank you.
  6. Your right it's ridiculous and UNSAFE!! And it's already in the works to try and solve the ego trip some police officers have here. I'm not going to go into all the issues but there real and they will be addressed. I'd like to think I was smart by the way.
  7. All I can say on that is(keep in mind it's just me and things my department goes through) 911 DOES NOT mean your getting the fire department period. Are emergency number is 835-1100 not 911. I understand what your saying, but here in Harrison and yes I'll say it our cops think they can do everything robo COPS they will get a 911 call from a home owner who thinks there house is on fire and police hq will send a sector car to "check and advise" BS, I've heard this all too many times and sometimes I've called 60-control to dispatch my department to the call the cops are going on. Call the fire dept not 911. I'm sorry I feel very strongly about this,it happens all the time. We battle all the time. Gas calls they get through 911 they never call the fire department problem? I think so. Is it being delt with OH YES!! When is it going to stop? When someone(police officer) gets hurt. I hope it never happens. I think I went off on this a bit, But I feel better. Clarification: In Harrison when you call 911 you get the police not the fire department. Our emergency line goes straight to 60 control. So I'm not saying don't ever call 911 but if your house is on fire or you have a fire related issue you might want to call 835-1100. Medical and other calls yes 911. I think thats it.
  8. Hey ALS... Your right was just having some fun. I'll talk to you soon.
  9. ALS... I see your point and agree,But why quote me?I said nothing about being able to go calls, Or are you just being your usual happy self Oh and HAPPY EASTER!!!
  10. Was he active or just going to the fire house during an alarm? We have plenty of older members that come around, not to the scene, but they will come to the firehouse if there is a call. I guess some of them just want to be around I don't really see an issue with that. They hang out upstairs watch t.v. etc... Just my thoughts on this one.
  11. I thought it was aliens trying to communicate with me late at night.

  17. I'd have to agree, A good camera is always good, But if you have an eye for it, well that works even better. For me, I shoot shoot shoot then I'll take everything back to my P.C. and look at all the pics over, ya never know what you might have captured. Just my thoughts on this one.
  18. Well the plow blade should be on the ground. 1. there might be too much ice so the blade won't catch(some blades aren't as heavy as you might think). 2. Maybe the driver you saw was going to fast, that will do it,the plow will just ride the top and bounce. It's not as easy as you think. Have you ever been plowing and BAMN!! hit a manhole cover(you DPW guys know what I'm talking about) knocks the life out of you. Potholes would have nothing to due with the plow riding the top of the snow. Speed, weight of the plow, how far the glides(shoes) are set and how much salt was thrown down before hand are all factors.
  19. It's happened to us and I 100% agree with you.
  20. I don't even know where to start... Ridiculous maybe?
  21. I have a simple question. Why does my 46.26 pager pick up better then my BC350A scanner with a antenna. The pager is just sitting by the window in my office and always going off and my scanner is quiet. Just curious is there a logic to this? I'm not complaining I like it,I hear everything just wondering why.
  22. Yeah I hear ya I'm listening right now and it's crazy,I'll use the scanner for PD and the pager which is a II for the county I just can't get over the reception. Thanks for the info.
