I had a leather helmet for years and they are very heavy,After a long fire I relized this leather has got to go. So went out and bought the ben II and I am very ha[ppy with it. So I'd say leather is out Ben is in.

I didn't see many people at all at the test. I'd say maybe 20-25, The room I was in there were 3 people that didn't even show up.

how hard was the typing part of the test? I hope everyone did well on the test.

I thought the test was ok,I thought It would be harder then it was. I haven't taken any tests in sometime. I didn't relize they walk you to the bathroom that was funny.The voice on the 911 tape sounded funny also they should have made it more intense.

I think some of you are missing the point it's in case of another large scale emergency occurring in the city. We went on 9-11 didn't we? Well, All were trying to do is make it more organized. My department for example we signed up for an engine company as part of this mutal aid plan. As for qualifications just read it, it's pretty simple,You either meet the requirements or you don't. No one else is riding your engine or truck but YOUR men and women. I'm not sure whats so hard to understand read the first page "The potential for another large scale emergency occurring in New York is an everpresent reality" "This plan is part of the city's preparation for any such emergency" Only this time they will be able to dispatch in a "Timely and organized manner." I think it's a good thing. Again we went down to help on 9-11 so what's the difference? This time it will be better thought out on who and what to send deppending on the type of emergency. What's wrong with being ready?

I also have a 5 with voice record,It also goes off sometimes for other departments well, I should say once. It was 3am and my pager went off and I heard the county dispatching town of mamaroneck. I called the county and asked if we had a run the gentlemen on the phone said no, So I played back my pager for him. He said thats me on your pager but we didn't dispatch Harrison. All in all I like the 5 better then all the others. Just thought I'd share that story with you I thought it was pretty funny.

Our department allows you to buy whatever you want as long as it is OSHA approved.

The Engine we got is replacing our Rescue pumper Engine 13. The Engine will be called ENGINE 10. If some of you might remember we had engine 10 years ago and felt the need to bring the number back, So there you have it. ENGINE 10 RESPONDING!!!!!!!!!!!!
