Here are some photos of the Fairchester Hose Haulers Muster from June 28th, 1980 at the Kensico Dam in Valhalla. I do not know who the photographer is/was as these slides were won on ebay a few years ago and unfortunately have no markings on them. Big thanks to Tim [TR54] for scanning the slides for me. Wish I had more to post. Enjoy !

On Saturday, September 22, the New York City Fire Museum will present “Fire Museum Family Day,” featuring an antique hand-pumped fire engine muster -- teams from all over the northeast will compete to pump the furthest stream of water from their engines. With the help of Fire Department mascot “Hot Dog,” the FDNY Fire Safety Unit will be distributing fire safety materials to the public, and fire fighters will be conducting kids’ fire safety tours in the Museum’s apartment simulation. In conjunction with National Preparedness Month, the Office of Emergency Management and FDNY instructors will be conducting Fire Extinguisher Participatory Demonstrations where individuals will learn how to use a real fire extinguisher to put out a live fire. OEM will also be distributing important emergency preparedness information for kids and adults. Inside the Museum, there will be special exhibits of fire memorabilia from area collectors and historical organizations. The Museum is located in Hudson Square, west of SoHo. Spring Street will be closed between Hudson and Varick Streets from 10 AM to 5 PM. All outdoor activities are free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine. The antique fire-engine muster, presented by the New England States Veteran Fireman's League, will be pumping from 12 until 4 PM. The Fire Museum will be open for visitors; admission is $8 for adults and $5 for children, seniors and college students with ID. If you haven't reserved your free tickets to visit the site, you really should. The memorial grounds are breathtaking ! I believe the earliest you can get tickets is December now. Photos from my visit on 9/16/11: http://nyack.patch.com/articles/photos-my-visit-to-national-911-memorial

Poughkeepsie is relatively a major city up that way and has alot of firefighting history so there are usually going to be lots of bidders on stuff from there. I have seen some nice old Poughkeepsie badges with the bee hive on it over the years. Can't even touch FDNY/Pre FDNY badges unless you have extremely deep pockets. It's definitely an expensive hobby.

Unfortunately one of West Harrison's firetrucks, possibly E.265, caught fire while out being road tested by Ruscon on Birchwood Ave in Upper Nyack at 1542 hours. It appears that the truck is a total loss. http://westharrisonfd.org/page/17c2i/Apparatus.html

We had a gas station awning partially collapse in Nanuet while I was working the other night. The gas station owner didn't even think of notifying the police department. A person passing by decided to dial 9-1-1 and thankfully reported it. Nanuet FD responded and the Clarkstown Building Department was called out as well. I don't have the photos on my laptop to post, but if you click on the link below, my photos are toward the end of the 18 photos with the article. http://nanuet.patch.com/articles/section-of-nanuet-gas-stations-snow-covered-awning-collapses
