I took a bunch of photos at the parade, but left to take in a fire half way through the parade. Here are my photos: http://www.brianduddy.com/g/firehouse2008 Photos from Baltimore City & past parades: http://www.brianduddy.com/g/maryland

Congrats Bill ! Also, great to meet you the other night. I have a few publication things in the works, hope it pans out !

I totally agree. I have heard rumors that this is the last year, I hope that's all it is, a rumor. I was able to upload all the NYC Skyline with the Tribute In Lights photos. Will work on the rest of the apparatus shots tomorrow ! http://www.brianduddy.com/g/091108

I have not had the time to upload all of the photos I took the past 2 nights down at Liberty State Park but here is a sneak peak until I get them all uploaded. I was fortunate enough to be invited to a private photo session on 9/10 & 9/11. Jersey City FD, Jersey City PD, NJ State PD, Port Authority PD & NJ State Park PD all showed up to have their cars/trucks photographed.

What a bummer, had planned on heading up tomorrow morning, now what will I do ? Anyone have pics ?

A real shame the parade had to be canceled, but it was the right thing to do. Our 1st priority is to our taxpayers. I am sure Saturday will be a busy day for Rockland, and for most of the tri-state area. The convention was held tonight, great turnout. Photos from the convention can be viewed on my website: http://www.brianduddy.com/g/rcvfa2008

The 96th Annual Rockland County Volunteer Fireman's Association Parade for tomorrow in Suffern has been canceled. Unsure at this time if it will be rescheduled. I am sure the muster will be canceled for tomorrow as well. Might take a ride up if it is on Sunday !

For the most part the guys in Phoenix were pretty cool. The guys at Engine 31 & 61 were great, no problems to pull the Engine out completely and put it in the sun. Engine 61 has a brand new firehouse. They gave me a tour of the entire station. It's huge and the city plans on building more like it in the future. I hope to shoot some more rigs next year when I visit the family again. Unfortunately my father is planning on moving to Minnesota, so after next year I might not be visiting AZ anymore ; (

It seems like Newark can't make up their mind what color their apparatus should be. Current Res1cue White, Yellow & Red White & Blue http://www.fdnytrucks.com/files/html/other...unty/Newark.htm Also check Mike Martinelli's website and look at the demo's that Newark got, red & white and also a red, white & grey.

Haverstraw FD 4-Marine, Nyack FD 10-Marine & State Park Police Boat 8F71 also operated on scene. Small blurb on the Journal News Website:
-
Anyone know how much taxpayer $ was wasted on this project ?
-
Made National News too: http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/us/2008/0...ref=videosearch

Someone wanna grab me a brick for my collection ? It's a real shame it collapsed, what a beautiful old firehouse it was !
-
The Chief releases them from the incident they are on and they respond to the 2nd incident. Every company doesn't engage the call, the Chief just uses what equipment & manpower he needs. Some units will just stage away from the scene, possibly at a hydrant or on a side street. Nyack is one of my departments mutual aid companies so I am not going to comment on wether I agree or disagree with their response policy. What I will say is that I can see both sides of the coin. There are definitely some Pros & Cons to having all the apparatus respond for every alarm.
-
When the tones go off, no matter what the call is, all 8 companies respond. Not every apparatus may get out of the barn, but for the most part they do. That's just they way they do it. If the Chief calls a signal 11 [situation under control], he may tell the remaining apparatus not yet on the road not to respond, but that's his call. If the apparatus doesn't hear otherwise, they are rolling.
-
Depends on what agency you work for. Dispatchers now start at about $50,000 where I work.
-
Nyack rolls all 8 pieces of apparatus to all their calls. If it's a brush fire you are getting (2) 100 foot tillers, 5 engines & a rescue.

If you have never been to the museum, it is really a MUST ! It's only about an hour north of here and well worth the trip. Here are a few non apparatus photos from 1 of my 2 trips to the museum. Now this is a collection of medals ! I collect medals like this and probably own about 30 of them. What I wouldn't do to get my hands on these ! A few September 11th Memorial pieces
-
Great photos Tim, thanks for sharing them. I heard I missed a great photo op of TL.78 & 17-Quint displaying the American Flag. Any shots of my boys from Central Nyack ? I had a family reunion in Longggggggg Island, so I was unable to make the parade.

Congrats Bill. Always a pleasure to see your work !

I have worked over 200 different countries on the CB. We are at the bottom of the Solar Cycle so conditions have been real bad the past few years but should pick up over the next few years. Radio prop is definitely an interesting subject. General rule of thumb, the lower the freq, the longer the signal will skip. If you are a skip nut like me, punch in every 33 & 46 mhz freq in a bank of your scanner over the summer and listen. You will be very surprised what you hear !

1330 hrs: Suffern FD & Tallman FD with an automatic F.A.S.T. Team requested for a reported basement fire at 70 East Maltbie Ave. Not a whole heck of a lot to see when I got there, but some nice close up shots & overhaul photos. Great stop by Suffern FD !
