My Wife has the 2012 Terrain. Just got got it. It is the fully loaded model but no navigation. She also got a lifetime maintenance package and free car washes for life. I think it's a great car for the money.

Not every firefighter of color got on because of some court order or a quota. There are minority firefighters who went through the hiring process in the same fashion as the other candidates and didn't have to deal with Court orders and such. To do the right thing is give everyone a fair shot at preparing for an exam. I hope you see those of us as a Brother/Sister and not some "Black that took his Kid's job away".

Station 3 is whoever the Mutual Aid Flavor of the Month was when he was Chief. Hi Chris.
-
Oh stop it!!!

The above statement is correct. Years ago, the volunteers were relied upon as part of the response, but now membership has declined. Mutual Aid was rarely heard of years ago, but is now common.

I think maybe you read into my question a little too much. I was referring to my wife and I. We won't cross any picket line. As far as my job is concerned, honestly, I never given it that much thought.

David. You have my support!! And the day that happened was 22 years ago today right?

CWA and IBEW members receive extra training that was negotiated, that the non-union employees do not have the benefit of. Also it should be everyones business how these exectives get generously compensated, but yet tell their employees that there is no money... Didn't all of these Wall St. Execs pull the same stunt 2 years ago?
-
Maybe you didn't read my post. First of all, as proud Union workers, WE DO NOT CROSS PICKET LINES. Second of all, it's the company that decided to take the entire contract and gut it from page to page. It's Verizon who does not come to the table to bargain in good faith, not CWA or IBEW. Cell towers get all of their data from Copper lines; and somebody has to maintain them.
-
EXACTLY!!! My Wife has busted her a** for 22 years for them, and for others as a member of her local's executive board. Despite the billions and billions of dollars in profit that this company has made, they still want to bust the union by taking away everything that 50 years of negotiating has brought them. I don't give a damn about Copper vs. Wireless. Everything is copper until you get to the tower. VERIZON is demanding the weakening of health-care benefits, cuts in pensions, reduced job security, and elimination of paid holidays such as Martin Luther King, Jr. Day AND Veterans Day. This despite the fact that the company reported billions in profit last year, and the top five executives are making almost 258M/year including compensation bonuses and stock options. AND to boot, the company doesn't pay any taxes. Enough is enough.
-
So in essence your saying that you support inferior Scab labor to trained local Union workers?

I own two leathers. A Sam Houston and a New Yorker. Both I've had since the early 90's when I first stated with the vols. One of the first things I did when I first got my Houston was rip the ratchet out and form fitted it with the included foam padding. I've worn all from bedpans, 1010's and the Ben 2. I'd prefer the Ben 2 over the 1010 anyday because it has a great fit of the composites and it has a similar resemblance to their leather counterparts. I've seen the Paul Conway helmet, and it looks like somebody squished the top of it. I bought mine because of tradition as well as durability. I've repainted it twice and replaced the foam padding inside. That's it. M'Ave I don't see as many leathers on the job down there, is it because the job is phasing them out, or the guys aren't buying them anymore?

The fire started in the attic area. There is water damage to the other floors. Catholic Charities will re-renovate the building from what I hear.
