I'm from dutchess county and my dept has set up for any structure related fire that an engine from closest dept responds on call to back us up if someone gets on scene and has a conformed fire then a 2nd alarm is requested and it gets retoned for 2nd alarm assignedment and yes sometimes another dept might be the second due engine depends where it is we have 3 stations and from one station are the the other it could be at least 20 min for another station to get there so I see where everyone is coming from. Also there are times when I'm at work and a call comes in for afa smoke in building yea I wait and see what it is before I leave.can I make a suggestion if everyone thinks there is a problem with responses or a dispatching take it up with the chief then take it to county cars and so on. Just my opinion

nice job and the fire and the deployment of fit 5 what did u thinks of the fit 5. my department was the first to purchase this in dutchess county and had to use it about a week later at a fire where there was thought of someone trapped and a lack of man power when fist truck pulled in.we had heavy fire showing out two window and fit 5 was thrown through window and it did knock down the fire a little bit and gave me and my partner a few extra min for the search befored we could get a hose line in worked very well i would recomend for all dept to purchess one.thanks for sharing the info on this be safe

Well this gave me quit the laugh when reading all responses to this I think if everyone was in same room I think it would have been a brawl lol I think it was a good job by highland on the decision making well planed. Just wanted to also comment on th pv tanker going to beacon they new they might need water and called a. Truck from a department that wasn't getting there a** kicked with storm calls good decision glenham east fiskill in that are were just running from call to call and no manpower or I would say the energy to keep up with it all so for one of those dept to go with a tanker to beacon for a fire might not have happened with all that was going on

Coming from a small town volunteer dept in dutchess county my department has it set up for any structure related call an engine from another dept is automatic toned out same time we are 24/7/365 and it works day time is hard cause everyone works out of town. Being one of those that can leave work and takes me only 5 min to get to the station its nice nowing that someone else is responding. And not getting to a call by myself.
