  1. "Tradition is good for 2 things, reminding you of where you are at and stopping you from getting to where you should be." -With all due respect, ALS to which traditions are you referring (I am curious) ? Where should we be ? *10-4 on your post Wiegelman !
  2. YFD Engines/Trucks/Rescue are staffed with 1-Officer (Lt.or Capt) and 3-FF's (4 total) Battalion Chief has an aide (2)...........
  3. Originally painted Yellow, repainted red/white...........
  4. With all the compliments to ALS, I might have to sit in on one of your classes. I am curious (no sarcasim intended).I also believe that book knowledge is good (and a place to start), but experience is Better. I have seen that book go rite out the old window !! I also believe we are losing focus by trying to stick to "The book" and safety too much ! I like Old School !!!!
  5. "in 1998 my comapny started designing a pumper to replace our current engine 78. in late 1999 the town had a study done by an insurance carrier which suggested relocating the firehouses in town and having a second engine in the south end of town. in 2000 we scrapped our engine design and began building what we have now, tower ladder 78." -Is that why '78' is Tarrytowns now............?
  6. A row of stores ( sometimes apts above) Constructed basically cheaply (common cockloft) by the landowner which he used the rents to pay the taxes on the property ie: Taxpayer.
  7. Pic of 318 taken ? Hmmmm- I Know !
  8. OK, here's how it is...... FFs, Lts,Capts remain Black w/ orange (NO names)- Chief's went back to Black w/ lime and names on tail. Reason for this is even though the gear is assigned to you, when necessary to repair, it can be swapped out with the stock stuff. Hope this helps......
  9. The new MV TL does not have the escape ladder mounted on the boom ?
  10. The rig behind 10 is an Ex- U.S. Navy truck, an ALF midmount. Awaiting restoration..........
  11. Car-5 is Safety, Car-6 is FIU (Fire Investigation)
  12. What info you looking for ?
  13. The Patrol is funded by the NY board of Fire underwriters, and not technically associated with FDNY. Salvage is performed by FDNY, by the Truck companies. Although they used to have Fire_salvage companies which were disbanded. The Patrol usually responds to commercial buildings, although they can be special called by the FDNY Chief to any location. Here's the link......... http://www.nybfu.org/firepatrol.htm
  14. Engine-312 & 309 have 5". The rest of the Engines use 3-1/2" supply lines as of right now.........
  15. Where do you guys get your info ?
  16. Fellas, this is not the case. 12's rig is out, they are using spareE-316, but remain 312. As for 311, they are out of town the last few day tours for training and were replaced for those days w/ a completely different crew using E-317 (riding out of Sta-11 as 317) so the city is not down a rig. That's all......... (Also R-1 is in L-79)
  17. That was just footage CNN used to run over the story. Don't read into it....
  18. Pudge, You lose all the compartment depth with the walk-in.
  19. First of all News-12 Sux ! They want to be considered a "Pro" news organization, but lack the professionalism. The only good thing about having to use your account # on the board, is maybe NOW someone can be held accountable for their post. I have seen many things posted on there that had no basis or evidence - it was pure BULLsheet !!!!! Anyone can post BS under a screenname. If you are not willing to sign your name to it- it means Nothing !!
  20. Wow- more talk about Sq-311 on this board than on the job. 311 is still foremost an Engine Co. They still will respond to Medical runs within their district (only right). R-1 still responds citywide on all W/F. It was created to beef up our special ops capabilities, and get trained guys to eastside Tech incidents quicker and to support R-1. Rescue still responds to rope/haz-mat/pin jobs citywide. They will receive a Lukas tool, and do MVA's also when new rig arrives. This will put extrication equipment on R-1, L70,L72,L73,L74 & TL75- (in a week) and finally Sq-311. It is sort of based on FDNY's squad concept. They may NOT be riding on 10-30's(a/h) on the Westside of the city.
  21. R3- Bat-1 is running out of 3-Engine. The Safety Battalion is going out of Sta-1. The Big House has TL-71, R-1,Safety, & MSU. There is no room for any spares at HQ. The ALF is a nice rig- like a cadillac, but as with all the new apparatus everywhere, too many safetys bells & whistles. The old Mack, U pulled up and threw the jacks down. Now you have to make sure you have grren lites all around. It is almost a 2-man set up on the new TL, but it has been around for 6 years now, and has caught it's fair share of work.
  22. The yard on St. Casmirs is used for extrication & rescue training (no burns). The lot on Saw Mill is no longer used because someone complained (believe that?)
  23. The 4-Bagger was on Featherbed La. a (vacant?) 1-story taxpayer
