I knew Captain William's son, Craig. Unfortuately, Craig took his own life a few years back, and his fathers loss had a lot to do with it.

Wow, what a let down. I heard from several vendors that there were 90-100 unsold spaces, and the crowds I was used to seeing were non existent this year. The good news is that I got a lot of face time with vendors I wanted to talk to, and the Scott guys were incredibly helpful. Spotted Dog will be adding a ton of new features to their system in the next few months. It was a successful mission for what I needed, but overall, poorly attended.

Headed there Saturday. Need to do research on new SCBA's.

We have 2000 feet on all our engines, only about 1/4 of our area we cover has hydrants.

Yes, Marlboro was called for standby at MH station 2 for general coverage. We have no tech rescue team or anything like that. I enjoyed checking out their Antique Mack they had in the bay until they released us. When we are called to stand by for MH, we now go to station 2, as our mutual aid engine's hose bed was modified and no longer fit height wise in station 1.

The Harrisburg muster is coming up July 13th. It is a good time and you can see what logistics are needed for running a muster.

All, Im looking for info in if bailout systems/harnesses have a "lifespan", like NFPA says 10 years for turnout gear. I cant find anything in NFPA 1983, 2012 edition about a life span. Or is it just do the inspections and remove from service when there is a problem... Gemtor tells me ANSI A.10.32-2004 says 5 years is the service life for fall protection....... Any ideas?

I've been to West TX a few times, when they had their BBQ cookoffs years ago. Typical Central Texas town. They will rebuild.
-
I called RIT and Gemtor direct.
-
The bailout people (RIT in my depts case) say 10 years, but I got Gemtor saying their harnesses are only good for 5 years.
-
I need black and white, not vauge. I find 5 years for a Gemtor Harness under reasonable use and care to be about 5 years too short, seeing how the bailout system manufacturer says 10 assuming inspections are done at proper intervals, ect. I asked a FDNY guy, he said their Gemtors get replaced at 10 years. I just find it funny how when I called Gemtor, they faxed me a sheet saying ANSI says 5 years, unless specified by the manufacturer....

The Jeep and trailer is NOT in the Leider collection as far as I know of Summer in 2011.

Does anyone have contact info for the Jeep owners? I have one I am restoring, and would love to check out the ex Milleood one. I even have a picture of it taken at a Valhalla Muster I can give them a copy of.

All, We would like to mount a medical glove box holder that holds one box of medical gloves in the cabs of our apparatus. I know every medical supply house carries what I need for $20-30 each, but those arent NFPA 9G rated. I have plenty of mounting space, both on the back wall of the cab and the doghouse cover so either a vertical or horizontal mount is fine. Does anyone know of a company that has a 9G rated glove box holder? Pac and Zico dont have what Im looking for. Thanks!

Sounds like a plan, Captain!

Yes, that is my son, when we were testing out the pump on my own personally owned piece of apparatus. He wanted to take the "fireman picture" for Mommy. I had somone at the pump panel, he and I went over by the monitors, got him situated, I backed out and took the picture, and he got out, total exposure time of 30 seconds at the most, thats after they were running for 1 hour with no problems or movement, and they were staked down, even though you cant quite tell in this picture and pump pressure was just enough to get water out. Risk of problems was very very very low, and made lower by the exposure time. He was told not to touch anything, and he didnt. The 9G holders are for my district, where A) the boxes currently are shoved in a compartment, where people need to "think about it" to get them, Im trying to do better than the $20 medical cart glove box holder for my apparatus, as with all the risk of lawsuits, Im trying to cover my district's rear end, as we spent a decent amount of money getting the right 9G certified mounts/tiedowns/mechanisms to keep equipment from flying around in the cab. Perhaps the biggest reason for mounting them in the cab with in easy reach is they are right there, no one can use the excuse "I forgot, or I couldnt find them" or From my research, there must be alot of depts/districts that have a box loose in the cab, or they dont use gloves for EMS calls, as apparently none of the manufacturers currently produce one. If there are none of the propper rating as per the NFPA, I will have to explore the next best option of what IS out there. I figure I'd ask on here as to what others are doing.

Good idea. But I still wonder why someone hasnt made a 9G rated glove box yet...

All, I have several fire police that have requested that we issue them bright yellow/ reflective MITTENS (not gloves, which they already have) for use in cold weather. I have no problem getting the guys what they need. My problem is finding what they need. Seems the reflective/yellow traffic directing type mittens I have found actually have gloves as the inner liners, which are not what they want, (nor would I). I have tried several places, both online and "real" fire equipment retailers, and the "mittens" they sell actually have gloves as the inner liners. Does anyone have model #'s or manufacturers info for what I am looking for? I never thought this item would be so challenging to source. I need reflective/yellow mittens that are 100% mittens...

Districts answer to the taxpayers, and also the state Comptrollers office if your not handling your $ as you should.
