purple, red, blue, they're all the same right? (detect some sarcasm there?) That may be very well why the public is lacking information, however coupled with a siren, it should be a clear get the hell out of the way notice. This guy appearently had the ok as a sherriff to have these lights - although from my recollection of my time in new york, sherriffs aren't full fledge law enforcement anyways. But he had the right to have them at that point in time - however he resigned, hence it should have been bye-bye red lights. but that would be the logical approach to things. from the article, it sounds like this guy has a bit of an ego thing going on. Like it's owed to him. If he keeps doing it, (my bet is he keeps it down for awhile till the water cools then starts again) hopefully he'll catch the wrong cop and get prosecuted. As for the Mayor thing from 97 I think it was. Funny thing, here in CT the Mayor, although not a cop or firefighter, is issued a car from the city, usually a CV with a police package, with both radios for PD and FD and Red lights. Just because he's head of the city. The current Mayor of my town has an explorer like that. I have never seen them on at a scene or otherwise. And I'm pretty sure he'd get shrugged off o/s anyways. ONe of the past Mayors, went to a scene, no rls or anything, and tried to start telling both fire and pd what he thought should go on - he was politely told to step off by both.-lol

silly boy didnt you know dirty water just doesnt do the job-lol. betcha if her house catches fire after she calls 911 ms. mitchell is gonna be busting this guys door down trying to get him to help. it's easy to say you'd say screw you, but we all know the guy would wind up trying to help her. i'm wondering if someones house does go up and winds up being a foundation save if someones gonna try to blame this poor guy. But then again as he is not a firefighter, he has no duty to act. but we all know lawyers.

Last night both crews from New Haven Fire as well as AMR responded to a call for a victim of a GSW on Popular Street in the city. crews arrived and the patient was a code 200 - traumatic arrest. The crews worked the patient all the way to the ER. 2 min out the pt was still a code and the medic did a chest decompression. needless to say the guy is now in very critical condition but at least alive. Nice job by both the crews. Good Job

Unfortunately the new Medicare rates not only put a strain on EMS providers, but I'm sure it also has an impact on hospitals too. While paid services and hospitals, shouldn't be making a killing, has anyone ever looked at what services can get paid? It's ridiculous. I wouldn't be suprised to see more hospitals closing shop. And ya know what? It really stinks that medicare and medicaid have to nickle and dime everyone to death.
