  3. Hell of a grab, awesome work guys!
  4. Down here in FL about 4 years ago, it took about 9 deaths in 4 days for FDOT to realize that I-4 was the same way between daytona and Orlando. Cars going 80+ mph with no divider and a grass strip between is never a good combination. There is now a divider up on the east bound inner shoulder only now.
  5. its not, its in the health and welfare section....seems like a glitch in the system for the homepage
  6. Just registered for the FL forum. Are you doing verified member status there too?
  7. You are correct on both accounts. Most of our members have the minitor V pagers set up with A) 46.26 46.26 vibrate C) Trunk 17 D) priority scan of 46.26 and trunk 17, and even with the trunk 17, our pagers were not receiving the trunk 17 transmissions
  8. Through a note from the chief " As of this date Yorktown has switched back to Low Band 46.26 do to inability for responders to hear any of the responding apparatus. As it is with many Chiefs, safety for the members is the number one concern. This safety was compromised Yesterday. " I am not home, so I cannot comment on the particular situation, but I know we've been having problems with our pagers picking up the trunked system and hearing our own apparatus responding.
  9. special thanks to csf248 for showing me these, I haven't stopped laughing for about 10 minutes now. it is adult humor so those who are easily offended, steer clear. episode 1 - episode 2 - episode 3 - and no csf248 didn't make them, he just posted the links somewhere else.
  10. There is the intention to drive. If he really wanted to be responsible, he would have had someone drive him home. No sympathy from me.
  11. only 36 hours of training required for volunteers......
  12. I don’t see the paid volly issue from his post. Just because you are part of a volly department, doesn’t mean you can't be safe. Without getting into details, I have seen respected department, paid and volunteer perform this action recently and yes one was an enclosed cab, with the windows open, but you could still see them moving about. What matters here is not the department nor the firefighters involved. There is no need to call out certain departments and members based on this video. What does matter is that people understand it is inherently dangerous to not be buckled in on their rigs. If departments want to have an SOG that allows members to stand, that is their prerogative. No one on this board has the right to call them out, and when one person does it, there is definitely not a need for 30 other members to say the exact same thing; it's kinda understood after the first post. All I'm saying is, if your department has an SOG one way, that doesn’t mean that department X will do it the same way. Is it safe for them, maybe not, but you (as in everyone) have no place to try and correct them.
  13. I am down at school in FL for this event, any way i could send my support via mail?

  16. I am in suppport of having netting placed on the hose loads. We lost a nozzle on our engine while making a turn at a slow speed, dragged it down the road for about 100' then picked it up. The only thing we could think of that would cause it to fall off was improper placement of the nozzle on the load. With a net, no matter where the nozzle is place, you dont have to worry about it falling off.
  17. wrong link...i think you ment this

  21. Seth, Do not be embarrassed to have to ask for money to keep this site up and running. You have tirelessly and most honorably kept this site up running, by your self, upholding a dream that you once and still have. You could have never known that this site would receive the expansive growth that it has received around our community, even going international, and becoming a source of information for local news reports. With expanded growth and unforeseen costs, it is time that the site "go paid," pun intended. I am a member of other forums online that have nothing to do with the emergency services, and they charge to be a member there, and no one has problems doing so, why, because we know that the site is HUGE and the owner cannot possibly cover the cost himself. It is time that the members here start contributing back, not only to the information and expertise of this site, but the responsibility of running it too. I know I would be more then happy to pay a monthly, bi yearly what ever it may be, in order to receive the valuable and quality information the members here continue to present. I'm sure that a vast majority of the validated members who post and continue to read up on information, would be more then willing to contribute a few bucks every now and again. I know that I will be donating a few dollars soon to contribute, and wont be asking for a refund, because the years of knowledge and information I've received is invaluable. Sincerely, Alex Vergo
