FYI, anyone interested in the NRS knife. It SHOULD be available at Eastern Mountain Sports in Scarsdale, give us a call first to double check and reserve it, 914-725-0024. Also, be aware that it is a blunt end knife (no point) so that it won't puncture inflatable watercraft.

I got a 90 and am 37th on the list. Meanwhile I know someone who got an 85 and was 336... so there seems to me not to be that many 95 and 100 scores but a lot of 90's and below.

This is a truly sad situation if the allegations turn out to be true. In my view, this kind of incident should change how we handle recruitment/ new membership to a point. Is the new guy who is interested in the department a little over eager? Does he seem like the kind of person who, once he realizes that there is a lot of "downtime" in the volunteer fire service (at least in my personal experience)will create a threat/ liability to himself, the department, and/or the public through this kind of incident or something similar? Just something I think we should be considering. Obviously, as it seems with the accused firefighter in this case, it isn't alway apparent, but there can be clues. Maybe it is something that we can start to keep an eye on and be aware of. Just my 2cents

Is the wheelbase as long as it looks in the third picture, or is it just the angle of the shot? (or maybe I'm delusional)

I'm going to preface this by saying I am not in any way a commanding officer. However, if I were to be, I am pretty certain the only time you would be hearing "expedite" from me would be for ConEd... although I think most of us know well that actually works the majority of the time.

Yellowbird should make a fine training rig for the FTC. It still pumps incredibly well, and drafts like nobody's business. It has actually been considered one of the stronger and better pumps in the department. So assuming it is properly maintained, the only issues are some minor body rot. Hope to see it put to good use.

Operations are now complete as all 33 miners and 6 rescue workers are up and out!

As many of you may know, next Saturday (Oct. 16) is the annual Rye Vs Harrison game. This game is often described as one of the top HS football rivalries in NY state. I encourage you all to come out to the RHS field and witness it for yourselves. Hang the Huskies

We had these idiots threaten to protest a student's funeral when I was in school. The best way to deal with them is to hold up sheets/ tarps so that those at the event can't see them, and stand there with an iPod or the like on full blast to drown out their hate speech. Any sort of physical retaliation and they will take you to court.
