  16. This is why the airport can't expand, for people like this. Neighbor: Renovations Will Bring More Traffic, Noise to County Airport (Full Article) This is what is planned for construction: Nothing here seams like it would attract Larger and louder planes. This is David Gelfarb's response to the above article: Does anybody know if the construction at HPN has been stoped due to budget issues?
  17. WOW! It's in great condition! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

  19. Yes, volunteers have missed the tones before, but that happens in other departments as well. Because we are a combination department, we have paid staff drive first-due apparatus to the scene. We do have volunteer driven apparatus, but they are not used for every call. Usually volunteers respond straight to the scene in their POVs. However, on Highway calls, volunteers must ride apparatus to the scene. So the missing the truck problem is really only on highway calls. I think another Rye FD member may be better at explaining this. Any help guys?
  20. Well, there has been some talk about communication, ever since the county switched over to trunked system. Before the trunked system, Rye FD used 46.26 as their main communication freq. This allowed volunteers to hear when the trucks are responding and etc. Now that they have moved to Fire 15, there is no way for volunteers to know if he/she missed the truck and when units have cleared the scene. So, my best guess is that this is a cross band repeater for Fire 15. But again, just a guess! KEJ252 is our radio ID for our freqs. All FCC stations have a ID. 60 Control's is KED281.

  22. I believe HPN currently has 6 gates where people can board from. The 2 Jetway'd gates are only used by the larger aircraft. There is no Laws about how the pilot should fly the ascent or decent, only suggestions. At HPN, there is a noise abatement program that suggests not flying over certain congested areas and not flying duing night hours but pilots can really do as they please. The Only exception is when pilots are on a IFR flightplan, when ATC tells you were to go. I think the folks in greenwich petitioned to change the flight path of planes on approach to runway 34. They actually got the FAA to change it so now planes dirrected by ATC are navigated away from the waterfront homes in greenwich and more over Long Island Sound. 23. Guys... stop whining about the AC, the hottest month is coming up next week . I was up in the ID office earlier this year and didn't notice a problem with the climate. I'm glad the construction continues, the last thing the airport needs is a delay.
