Yes they are. Check out their website, here. Be careful with the term "rescue", it has different meaning around the country. But I think I understand what you are trying to say. Wake County EMS does not provide their own rescue service, only patient care and transport. They work very well with the FDs down there since they both respond on medical calls. If you go through their website, you'll learn a lot. Like Goose said... these are my opinions, you are entitled to yours How many EMS agencies do this...

Wake County, NC is known to have one of the best EMS systems in the coutry. It's a county wide system with no relation to FD.

Drivers for MEMS and VAC are not paid at all. If no volunteers sign up for a shift then TMAD will pay for a driver. If a driver never shows, then who ever has 49-12 would respond to drive the bus.

Got some questions... How many Somers FD/EMS calls go to Heritage Hills? It seams that a they are a frequent destination for SVFD. Also can 80B1 go mutual aid if requested? I do however applaud Somers for looking into this and making the protection of lives and property first.

They are not illegal but are sort of frowned upon in the US. Gas ambulances are cheaper but do not perform like a diesel ambulance. Overall, Diesel is the way to go, IMO.

Bump! The event is tomorrow. Here are some updates on what should and shouldn't be there... (according to NYCAviation) For all the photographers planning on attending, bring everything you got!
