They look like crap cause they treat them like crap!

Great shot Seth! Quick question... is it common for Engines to hold 1000gal down there?
-
Yes, they do. When the plane it taxiing in under its own power, there is 1 person on each wing, 1 person on the chocks and 1 on the line dirrecting the pilot. This is required by the FAA for tarmac safety. This is not required for general aviation. This is how it is done...
-
I can't find anywhere in the article if the aircraft was taxing under it's own power or was being towed to the gate by a tug. Either way, the ground crew certainly screwed up by not having a wing marshall walk the plane in. I would also think that a Pierce Fire truck is better built and mantained than an American Airlines MD-80!

Several departments do this. They offer a small an amount per call. The hard part is not the distribution; it’s finding out where the money will come from. Locally, Greenwich FD reimbursements it volunteers in the amount of $7.50 per emergency response to account for fuel usage and wear and tear on your personal vehicle (according to their website).

From what I know, lithium batteries were discoved in the 70's and sold to the public in the 80-90's. They started to add them to cars within the past 10 years. You brough up a major issue, discharge and storage after an incidend. Another major issue with lithium batteries is disposal. It has to be recycled in a specal facility. All I tried to say in my first post was that manafactures have expidided reserch and development to meet demand. And that they have overthought many things. Reminds me of the issues Tata Nano had in India. again, just my 2 cents

Nice shots seth! This units is a mobile radiation detector for United States Customs and Border Protection.

It was only a matter of time. This is what happens when you try to get a product on the market fast before you do all the necessary testing. Glad no one was injured.

It was originally reported that a NYSP helicopter landed in the SB lanes to drop of the MRT. Is this true? Also, what marine units were on scene? Heard Ossining, Yonkers and County PD were on scene. Anyone else?

This week may be a bad example with the storm but it seams that they are constantly running low on medics. They cover a huge part of the county (Coverage map bellow), with increasing call volumes. I know they may put a Medic-4 in service, but only on certain occasions. They even go mutual aid, like they did with Vista today, when a Norwalk Medic was not available. They do a great job, but is 3 enough? Just looking for you thoughts Westchester EMS 45-Meidc Coverage Area - Courtesy of Westchester EMS

Over these past couple of days, I've heard instances where an initial dispatch will fail to activate pagers. A chief or officer will sign on, seconds later, asking if there was a call, and then requesting a retone. 60 Control will then dispatch via their backup system. And it works. Most recently, I heard it happen with KBHVAC yesterday and Mt. Kisco FD Today. Can someone confirm this issue? Is this a result of the storm? Thanks!
