I think you are confusing Empire EMS (Now Hudson Valley Paramedic Services / Regional EMS) with Empire Ambulance. I totaly agree, FD should take over. According to their website, they currently have 23 Paramedics, 2 Critical Care Technicians, 13 EMT-Intermediate and 14 EMTs. Hopefuly they can hire the laid off SEMS employes, SSFD is already at minimum staffing. They even have an ambulance, currently being used as a rehab vehicle. Photo from the SSFD IAFF Local 343 facebook page. For those who haven't been to Saratoga, I STRONGLY suggest making the trip. As a part-time resident of Saraotga, this town is beautiful! It's a little cold now, but try to come up during the racing season. Great bars and restaurants and awesome concerts at SPAC! There is fun for all.

Both Village of Mamaroneck EMS (MEMS) and Town of Mamaroneck/Larchmont VAC (TMLVAC) have paid medics on the bus 24/7 provided by the Town of Mamaroneck Ambulance District (TMAD). All EMTs are voluteers, and both agencies consider themselves 100% volunteer.

Can someone explain to me why MVFD L4 is designated as a "ladder" and not a "tower ladder". Looks like a TL to me.

From the outisde, the truck is identical to 68A1, with the only exception being the addition of a lightbar. I didn't have my camera when I saw it. I'll try to get some shots of it and post it. This is 68A1 (not the new rig, but they are identical)

Broward County Sheriff/Fire Rescue have taken delivery of new engines with a special feature, Patient Transport. Picture courtesy of Pierce MFG The extended cab can fit a full size stretcher and EMS equipment. There is a lift on the other side to raise the stretcher. Any thoughts on this? Is this a new cost-saving measure?
-
Yeah sorry. I didn't make myself clear enough. They do transport in FD ambulances but don't transport in paramedic engines. Thanks for the clarification.
-
not to my recollection. They do run paramedic engines, but they don't transport.
-
I've been looking for that video for weeks. Thanks for posting it!

As mentioned before, Broward County Sheriff/ Fire-Rescue purchaed severeal engines with patient transport capabilities. Broward County's New Engine/Patient Transport Units. This has become more and more popular in florida. To the general public, this seems like a great money-saving invention. But they'll realize when it takes 15+ minutes for a first due to arrive on a working fire, it's wasn't the best purchase. I know every deparmtent is different but it just doesn't make sense, IMO.
