This course offered by WCDES is just an introduction for local firefighters and is not the 40 hour class required for ARFF personnel (as per FAR 139.319). However I am surprised airport personel were not allowed at the FTC.

Has the county ever offered a class like this before? Bulletin: 12-33

Not just IC... the driver is not really suppose to leave the truck. If they did have a fire, who would pump?

The main thing the US goverment is worried about is immagrants taking away jobs americans. As long as the student does not become and serve as a paramedic, I think he'll be fine. A volunteer firefighter and a paramedic are two different positions. He just can't take away a work position from a citizen and no one can profit from the student working.

Who is 2534?

Interesting, I like the Idea. But it seems that the YHFD Commissioners have their mind set that they need a 3rd Station. Today, there was a smoke condition at 1594 Croton Lake Road. It's 3 driving miles from Station 2 and 4.5 driving miles from the proposed station 3. They struggled to get 2 engines to the scene, 1 came from each station. And one of the trucks was driven by a chief. They had to call in a mutual aid engine and tanker from croton. I'm not going to make an opinion until I see real facts but by the looks of it, a third station will not work for them.

I spoke to a Armonk Firefighter today and he said that E287 was referbed and is still in excelent condition. E288 is still in good condition and may be kept as a spare. The New Truck might be designated as a rescue, possibly naming it Rescue 85.

As long as the FD is 100% volunteer, the student should be able to volunteer there.

All information involving International Students working/volunteering in the United States can be found at the U.S. Citenzenship and Imagrations Services: Students and Employment Web Page. I'll try to find the exact law.
-
Well it depends... Federal laws state that if the agency is part of, or affiliated with a college or university the student attends, then the international students may volunteer with a F-1 Student Visa. If the agency is not affiliated with the college or university the student attends, then they may volunteer. However, if the chief of the FD is paid, then the international student may not volunteer. I'm not sure if being a US Citizen is a requirement for every FD. All international students should speak to their collage or universities international student center before seeking employment or volunteering.

Nice Picture! Acording to Somers FD's Website (SomersVFD.com), this was their 1950 American la France 100' Aerial Ladder. This was also Larchmont's old Ladder. It served in Larchmont from 1950-1976 then was sold to Somers and was their ladder from 1976-2001. Somers Retired Apparatus

I think it has Great Quality and it has a HD resolution. It shows a great firefighter point of view, whether he did his job corectly or not. Constructive criticism is always welcome, so you are welcome to discuss what he did wrong and what he should have done.

I said the footage is awesome, didn't say anything about the tactics used.

I'm sure someone from Armonk can fill us in but the Maxim is in much better shape then the KME. The Maxim rarely leaves the staion as it's Armonk's supply engine. The KME is second due to all MVA's behind the ambulance. Anyone interested in seeing their apparatus should attend their open house in May, usually held during EMS Week. Maxim (Current E287) KME (Current E288)

Can someone explain what the purpose of this unit is? What does it do? What does it hold? What does it respond to? Does FDR stand for FDR Drive or a special unit? It's stationed with Engine 16 and Ladder 7 in the Gramercy Park section of Manhattan. Photo Courtesy of jag9889, used with permission.
