  3. What will Scarsdale put in service first? The New Engine or the Ladder "Show" truck?
  4. Sorry, I was living in the past
  5. I believe it was the last of their Orens. It was one of these two. Credit to the origional photographer
  6. Much nicer seeing it go to a second life in a needed department then to end up at Brookfield for scrap.
  7. No pictures of Pasta-Beans vs the Hovercraft?
  8. Look what happened in Brewster a couple weeks ago with Kate the Rottie. he left his keys in teh car to get his coffee http://www.lohud.com/article/2008902110350
  9. I think it was Ch 2 had an interview with the FF who made the grab
  10. What would that pilot project be?
  11. Cold Spring usually has one officer on duty 24/7 working 8 hour tours. Most officers are officers in other agencies also. Occasionally in the summer they will add an additional officer on weekends for the tourists. All officers are part time. They have an "Officer in Charge" that runs the department. Total Roster is about 15 Brewster covers 0800-2400. Oficers work when and what they can but they seem to cover the tours. A lot of the Brewster Officers are retired from other agencies and are doing it to keep active and keep their certificate. They do have a few younger officers. Some are active in other agencies also. They have a full command structure of Chief, LT, Sgts, etc. Their roster is about 20
  12. Today's J-N has legals for Somers Fire District accepting bids for a new Engine and for enlarging the apparatus bay doors at the Somers house. Is this related to the new Quint (L-48) or are they replacing something else? The last I heard was when they got L-48 then E-181(Seagrave) would go to Amawalk and E-188 (Pierce) would becone the spare/reserve engine. E-186 (Oren/Pierce) would be surplused.
  13. That would explain the bay door project.
  14. Such a high tech setup but note the ANALOG clock Radio in the upper left hand corner.
  15. Wow, i didn't think we had 10 major incidents in Putnam and I dispatch them. Great list.
  16. Additional Photos of old Mahopac Eng 49. We sold it to E Schodak in Renselleer County. I last saw it in the late 80's early 90's. since then we have learned it went to Amenia and was lettered for the Amenia Rural Fire Dept. ( Any Dutchess guys want to explain?) Seth found it on a photo hunt a couple of years ago. I berlieve Luke owns it now. Credit to the original photographers. Seth's Photo A couple of us have an idea about a 100th anniversery (2014) restore but nothing serions yet. It would be nice though
  17. First up Mahopac Eng 49 under the old Putnam County numbering system. 1957 International-Oren. The first Tanker (1000gal) in Putnam County. Sold in 1980 (or so) to E Schodak (Renselleer County) 1966 Oren (Ex-Eng 55 aka 18-2-2/18-2-1) Retired in 2003 and given to Putnam County for Haz-Mat/Foam Team. Now prvatly owned in Pawling Finally 1972 Oren (Ex-Eng 56 aka 18-4-1) Replaced in 1992 and sold to Hutchinson KS
  18. Maybe in a few years Jimmy But I agree
  19. Looking closer, it may be
  20. Chin strap is not secured
  21. Barry, you've never been to Patterson have you?
  22. The Director at that time wanted an new identifier to "start new". I guess technicly if we had to dispatch from the SO (our backup site) we could use 40-Control again
  23. From what I know of their training, they would say "Dutchess 911 is on"
  24. A lot of the county contro centers took the county identifier and control back in the 80's . Putnam was KED-862 then we switched it to 40-Control (to match 60-Control & 44-Control-Rockland). When we broke free from the Sheriffs office in 2005 and opened the 911 Center we became Putnam 911. 60 is Westchesters county ID number, 40 is Putnam's and 44 is Rockland. I'm assuming once one went to XX-control, the others followed. Orange is/was 36-Control
  25. I rememer this. I believe the Monastary/Fire Department was in PA though. They were featured in Firehouse magazine in the early 80's
