Sources say Somers has expanded again. Can they be stopped? Where will they strike next? Is this all part of a plan? Should Tony Sutton look out? Somers County?

I will agree that Gowans-Knight builds fantastic trucks. Our two tankers are 10 years old and still look like they just came off the assembly line. Thier paint job cannot be beat. They are following in the ways set by Craigs father Clark when he ran the company. We are about to replace the first of the two 1977 Orens and we looked to GK to continue the tradition. Unfortunatly we were not happy with either the Spartan or HME chassis's they offer. If Simon Duplex were still around we would have a GK for sure. Also in Putnam County, Putnam Lake FD has several GK refurbs and new apparatus. p.s. Res20Cue, we still have the door skins from 185 back when you turned proud Orens into Pierces. As a sleep deprived dispatcher at 40-Control, we never hear Croton at 3am because we only monitor 46.26 from our roof so we only get 60-Control and the Northern Westchester Departments. What is the UHF repeater frequency for Croton, no one has ever posted it here while discussing it. I can always add it into our scanner. EJS1810 aka 40-303 Wide awake at 3am

Task Force, How much do you pay in taxes on your gas? I just paid $1.97 for 87 unleaded in Mahopac, Putnam County. They cant even tell us how much in taxes on the pump anymore.

No, I can not say cool rig. I dont know what Spartan was thinking when they came up with the Evolution chassis. When Simon Duplex left the business, Spartan became the default custom chassis for the independent builders. Then they came out with the Evolution. Were they trying to compete with the Quantom? Another UGLY rig.

Putnam is opening a new Emergency Operations Center and Training Facility. It will hold the offices currently at the FTC on Gypsy Trail Rd ,the EMS Training Center, and the EOC currently located in the County Office Building basement. There will be a communications facility but the details are still being worked on. I am a dispatcher for 40-Control and still dont have all the plans.

Using Putnam County Numbers Chiefs 14-1-1(2131?), 14-1-2, 14-1-3, Brush Truck 14-31(MA-23)- w/Marine 3, 14-2-2, & 14-6-1(R-39). Peekskill on Stand by, Garrison on Stand by, Putnam Valley Eng 24-2-2 relocated to Conn Villave Station. Putnam Car 6 on scene. Westchester Haz-Mat, Health Dept on scene. NYS DEC on scene. Over 2000 gallons of fuel oil leaking into Putnam Creek which empties into Hudson River. Oil may have been leaking overnight. thats all I had then my shift ended. 40-303

In anticipation of opening the new dispatch center at the new Putnam County EOC there will be a test given for Emergency Service Dispatchers. Duties will include Police 911 calls and Fire & EMS dispatch. Contact Putnam County Personnel at (845)225-0860 for applications. I Believe the test is scheduled for March.

Putnam County has suggested the following as minimum standards for Interior Firefighters. This will of course change with the deletion of Firefighter Basic, Intermediate and Advanced and the implementation of FF 1 and FF 2 Basic Fire Fighter Intermediate Firefighter Firefighter Survival This gets you your Interior Status which if you joined an Putnam County FD after August 2002 is given by the County. The individual departments have to certify thier members who joined before that date.

Any idea what was going on in Bedford around 1530hrs. Heard Bedford toned out for all available members to report to Firehouse and Chief to contact 60 Control. Then they toned out Bedford Hills for 1 & 1 to stand by and a Chief to contact 60-Control. Then TL57 relocated to Bedford. At the same time a lot of traffic on the SP tatical channel including talking to a helicpoter going to Westchester

WPFD got a Rescue Body from the Mahopac Falls FD (Putnam County). It is a 1972 Saulsbury. The Mack Chassis it used to sit on was sold to a oil company in Croton Falls (Ex-2071).

Just a note on WAS967 comments about Putnam tones. The only Department that has trailer tones is Putnam lake, not Mahopac. That is because back in the day, PLFD went with a Plectron system rather then the Instalert system used by the other departments in the county. In Putnam we also have coverage problems with the Towers. We are starting to transmit off multiple towers for several agencies (Garrison Fd, North Highlands FD, Mahopac Falls FD, Putnam Lake FD, and Putnam Valley VAC). The tones sound the same off each tower but you can tell by the change in the audio quality which tower is used. Greetings from the North County EJS1810 40-303
