Why is it wrong to "count on Mutual Aid"? It's time we stopped being our own islands or empires and started working on a true mutual aid system where everyone contributed. One Department provides the engine, 1 the tanker and 1 the truck. We owe it to our taxpayers (employers) to spend thier money wisely. This works in many other areas of the country. PG County in Maryland, many areaa of Virginia, the MABAS system in the Chicago suburbs are just a few examples of where it works when done right I know everone is afraid or the big C word (consolidation) but that will be the future of the fire service. Putnam County Commissioner McMahon spoke about this at eh january County Fire Chiefs/Advisory Board. We have to look forward. I digress on the topic of tankers in urban areas, which is a good idea as a back up.

Could this be a violation of HIPPA for divulging paitent information? Lets Go Mets!

P'ville, Read the post about seat belts. I think you must have hit the windshield one too many times. Mariano was on his way to his first blown save of the season when Jeterwon the game.

Lets address the problem. Low Band & Motorola Minitors III & IV It's not just a problem around here. I was reading a report last night while I was at work from Berks County PA (near Redding). You could have taken the word Berks out and replaced it with either Westchester or Putnam.

Going all the Way......the New New York Mets Going No Way.........Yankees Yeah, You can say I hit my head also but all I can say is "Ya Gotta Believe"

X-635, Excellent Post. I followed the Alan Baird III case very closely when it was in the news. I very quickly learned about NFPA 1403 and how to properly conduct live fire training. For those who would like to read more about the case in addition to the NIOSH Report and get a consise(sp?) version of the case they should go to the Firehouse.com/firefighting forum and type Baird in the search box. Some of what you read is soap box but there are some very knowledgeable people who posted there

It depends on how "legal" you want to be. Usually you need DEC approval. All hazards (Asbestos) have to be abated.

Usually the houses are donated to the fire departments for training. After several weeks of search & rescue, hose line advancement, FAST Team training, etc the building is burned down for the property owner so he can use the property for what he intended to do. It saves the property owner demolition costs and provides valuable trainig for the FD
-
The owner donated the building so that he could build a playground for his kids? In Putnam I would die to have a house like that
-
Well, how was it? Sitting in the rain?
