Talk about redundency. I believe this is a redundent thread.

Now that we know who won the Official Trophies, when are we gonna learn who won the "Bravo Awards"?

LCFD Lt Ryan might have an Opinion on this also. It didn't come off but it must have been a hell of a ride.

Pleasantville was one of the best parades we never marched in several years ago due to a violent thunderstorm that came through just before the start. We all met at the firehouse and Brooksies and had a great time. We would love to go back to Pleasantville but Mahopac will be in Montrose this year. It's an old friendship between the departments. I guess you could say it's "tradition" that we go to Montrose

I Believe SPAAMFFA conciders Pre-1970 apparatus as antique now. It used to be 25 years but there would be too many 1980 antiques still in service

We are all assuming Daday can read. I think he just looks at the pictures and points to the ones he likes

We could wear EMTBravo patches under our certification patches

We are missapplying tradition here(see my other post under Tradition). The tradition is giving the Chief a vehicle to ride in, from Chiefs Buggys, to Model T's to Sedans & Station Wagons to SUV's and beyond.

tra·di·tion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tr-dshn) n. The passing down of elements of a culture from generation to generation, especially by oral communication. A mode of thought or behavior followed by a people continuously from generation to generation; a custom or usage. A set of such customs and usages viewed as a coherent body of precedents influencing the present: followed family tradition in dress and manners. See Synonyms at heritage. A body of unwritten religious precepts. A time-honored practice or set of such practices. Law. Transfer of property to another. Lets not confuse tradition and modernization. Tradition is remembering how we got to where we are today. Tradition is paying honors to those who got us here. Tradition is not leaving your Brothers & Sisters behind. Modernization is newer equipment

Unfortunatly every year when parade season starts we get into a debate about parades vs firefighting. It is a battle that no one wins and in my opinion only creates more contraversy. There is no way to judge firefighting. I believe thay call that Monday Morning Quarterbacking and that is not allowed here. I have never heard tones for the WCFJA (westchester County Firefighting Judges Association) and I hope I never do. If you want tojudge how a fire department operates look at thier ISO rating. Parades are a chance to show our departments off to the public. They want to see shiny trucks and crisp marching. They couldn't tell a Mattydale Lay from a Minuteman Load. Parades are a chance to see other departments and learn how thier vehicles are set up. There is no way to say my engine is set up batter then yours. It is up to each indiviual department to set the vehicle up as they feel they need. We cant march down the street holding our certificates to show what training we have. We could look really Buffy with a NYS Firefighter patch on our sleeves with rockers for all the classes we have taken (Last I knew you could buy them from FSA at Montour Falls) but I can show you pleanty of people who have taken every class available in NYS and surrounding states that still dont know which end of the nozzle to point to the fire. Lets not try to compare the two. Parades and inspections are like car shows to show off our best. They are meant to honor special people like Katonah is doing this year with Jimmy Boy. Parades are also a way to honor the host department's deceased members. We should always work on our main mission and strive to be the best. But there is no judging involved. Enjoy the parade season, meet your friends have fun. EJS

Ya gotta watch out down there. All that sun and a majority of the apparatus still hasn't rippened. Maybe you can take a tour of E-One in Ocala which is up the coast about 2 hours north if I remember correctly. Enjoy the trip! On second thought I might have gotten my coasts wrong again. I'm thinking west coast when I should be thinking east coast. Check out Palm Beach County for some interesting rigs.
