Phil says six more weks of winter. In the local area, Staten Island Chuck says spring is just around the corner. Just like the national spotlight on the Presidential Candidates, our groundhogs cannot agree on the future of the nation.

It seems someone recognizes someone in the video because I cant tell what department they are from , volunteer or career. Yes it's a stupid video. We are all our worst enimees (sp). We all do things that in retrospect do not show our best. Try to remember that we are all held to a higher standard and base your actions on that

I believe they are talking about some type of refreshing beverages. See you all there!

Thata a local issue, my department counts MVA's in the EMS catagory because the primary function is EMS

Something tells me the country format is not gonna happen. I found this on the Daily News website. Opie and Anthony caused a brief stir yesterday when they said Chiusano's departure meant the station would be flipping to a country format, which Chiusano said was not true. :(

Unfortunatly, Billy Goldfeder is reporting on the Secret List the first FF LODD of 2008. It's not even 1 day old yet. Everyone stay safe out there Tuesday, January 1, 2008 A Rockingham County volunteer firefighter was killed in The Line of Duty after his truck crashed while responding to a house fire this morning. 36-year-old Paul Ellington worked for the Oregon Hill Volunteer Fire Department. Investigators say he was speeding, was not wearing a seat belt and he lost control of his Z-71 Chevy Pickup at the corner of Business 29 and Crutchfield Road. His car collided with a row of trees and rolled down an embankment. The car landed on train tracks at the bottom of the hill

Full Department Response is the equivilant of a "General" alarm. Some agencies have the district broken up in zones for the different companies to respond to, Engine 1 handles calls in the NE and NW section of town, Engine 2 handles calls in the SE section and Engine 3 has the SW section. On a "General Alarm" or "Full Department Response" all 3 engines respond. Each Department sets up thier own Order of Response & Response Zones.

In Putnam there are no preset Alarm levels. Mutual Aid is called by the Incident Commander as needed. I would love to see preset alarm levels but it's like that elusive Christmas gift, you want it but never get it. I believe preset alarm levels based on type of occupency (Residential, Commercial, Special, etc) make both the Incident Commanders and the Dispatchers job that much easier. No thinking about who you want(Carmel or Mahopac Falls), just what you want(2 Tankers and 1 Engine)
