St Louis FD has been using modified response criteria for about 10 years. They call it "On the Quiet" response. It was implimented in responce to a large number of accidents with apparatus. I remember the same "what if?" questions back then. When I served as Chief in 2001 I put the same policy in place for my department. This is from a 2001 NIOSH LODD Report http://www.cdc.gov/niosh/fire/reports/face200039.html Recommendation #4: Fire departments should consider utilizing quiet dispatch until it is determined that life is in danger, persons are injured, or there is a working fire.5 The St. Louis Fire Department (SLFD) has implemented the quiet dispatch (responding with no lights or sirens) for the following incidents: automatic alarms, sprinkler alarms, natural gas leaks, wires down, calls for manpower, flush jobs, lockouts, carbon monoxide detector alarms, rubbish, weeds, and dumpster fires(Bold added for emphisis-EJS). If a call is dispatched as a quiet response and Central Dispatch receives additional information indicating that life is in danger, persons are injured, or there is a working fire, dispatch will upgrade the call to "urgent" and the responding apparatus’ lights and sirens will be activated. Since SLFD has implemented the silent alarm policy for non-emergency response, the department has reduced the number of intersection vehicle crashes greatly.

CC-2 reports fire is out, overhauling. They are starting to release units. This is a remote section of town with no municipal water supply. Multiple tankers are needed in this area. it is a section of new "McMansions"

The first address the caller gave was 29, then he said 31. Luckily there was only 1 fire so the FD was able to locate it at 22 Sager Ln.

The kid was stupid. He completed the requirements for High School graduation so withholding the diploma is also a stupid act by th ePrincipal. I'm sure he will recieve it inthemail with no fanfare in a week or two. As far as the "sex offendor" angle, if they labeled showing your butocks as a sex crime, the jails would have to be a lot bigger to hold every criminal each weekend at Jones Beach. So, the kid was stupid, plain & simple.

The J-N is going after ALL civil servents, not just police. it is part of the Gannet Groups "expose" on government. On the Poughkeepsie Journal website you can find any employee for Dutchess & Ulster County. The J-N plans to do the same for Westchester-Putnam-Rockland. It's all public information. Anyone can FOIL their local governements to find out how much (or little) we make.

According to the Journal News ( and we know how accurate that is ) Rockland County SO and Orange County SO marine units were also on the scene. That's 9 boats. Westchester County might need a Maritime Coordinator for DES as well as a floating Field Com

Lighting Strikes to a barn at Zephyer Farms (Mahopac), Arms Acres (Carmel), and A&P-Lakeview Plaza (Brewster) all with no major damage but definite strikes. Multiple trees and wires down in Carmel, Kent and Southeast. It got very windy there for a while.

Is that toward Garrison, Cold Spring or north?

I believe warning means it is capable of happening now as opposed to a watch that means conditions are right for the weather type
