I have a question for our Maryland brothers. Does everyone in MD walk around with a lit match?
-
This subject is being discussed in January 2015. I'll check in again in January 2020. I'll bet not much will have changed.

Briarcliff E94 with 2051 went to cover for Thornwood. Very early on the IC was asking for White Plains foam unit and was told it was out of service. While I was not watching the clock, it seems like quite a bit of time passed from when the Yonkers foam unit was requested and it was actually dispatched although Yonkers seemed pretty busy this morning.

I don't get it. Maybe one of the LEO's on the site can explain it. According to the Post this morning, both DeBlasio and Bratton are to give eulogies at the funerals. While Bratton maybe has 5 more minutes of credibility left in his police career, DeBlasio has none. Why would the families of the officers allow a person who fanned the flames of the conflagration that took their loved ones to speak at their funerals? I would never allow a politician an opportunity to 'rehabilitate' their image at such a solemn family ceremony, public though it may be. And, of course, any remarks by DeBlasio are not heart felt or genuine, they are mearly meant to shore up his image and in no way would reflect his true feelings. I just don't get it.

May they rest in peace. I hope their funerals draw the largest contingent of police officers from around the country that there has ever been. A million man march of cops, a show of solidarity so enormous that it will shake the very cores of the feckless politicians who embrace the likes of Sharpton and his ilk. There is no question that the deaths of these officers has a direct link not only to the rabble rousers like Sharpton but to the comments of politicians like DeBlasio, Holder and Obama who profit from the phony race narrative they put forth. And, a special FU to NBC for providing a known racial arsonist a platform and means of legitimacy not deserved.

Reading the incident reports it is apparent up in Orange County that Newburgh, West Point and Stewart AFB mix quite frequently with the surrounding volunteer departments and in Westchester the Montrose VA dept mixes with the local volunteer departments as well.

In the words of Donald Trump: "You're Fired".

Somebody likes them. I drive by the factory weekly and there are always different apparatus out front awaiting delivery and the yards are full. Needless to say all the apparatus for my County (Marion) department is E-One, they have a mix of commercial and custom cab pumpers and a couple of aerials. As was the case when I lived further South, each station has a pumper and a 'rescue' (ambulance) and certain stations also have a brush unit, a tanker or other specialized piece. Fire service here is paid County with two volunteer stations out in the sticks and the City of Ocala has its own paid department.

By specifying Pierce Quantum you are establishing a 'basis of design'. Adding 'or equal'; 'or equivalent' makes it CYA competitive.

Sounds like a great opportunity for some of the Village officers, many of whom may be on the older pension system. Since OT is the stated plan, who can criticize them for taking advantage of the OT to increase their earnings toward their final pension calculations. Somehow, in the long term, I don't think the taxpayers are going to be saving any money.

Nice addition for Stratford and it will have a nice home in their HQ which was a new build about 10 years ago. In addition to the Stratford FD, Stratford also has a huge Sikorsky facility and they operate their own impressive industrial fire department with some nice equipment including a boat and they house a State bomb disposal unit.

There are now half as many Friendly's from their high of around 600. Competition from the newer, trendy restaurants has hurt them. I still think they are one of the more consistently good places out there.

I agree, not a kick to the head, an effort to get his cap out of the way and in which could have been something dangerous since he had not been searched yet. Beat down is not a proper label. It's very simple, don't resist, comply with lawful instructions and nobody gets hurt.

On a somewhat related, but not exactly relevant topic, can someone explain why I just heard Engine 1 and Engine 2 dispatched for a residential lock out? Really, two engines for a lock out?

So, we're operating a PIAA and the medic requests the bird. As the bird comes in for the landing, a worker in a nearby building under construction, in an effort to see what the heck is going on, falls from the second floor. If I remember correctly, the bird came back for him after dropping off the first patient from the PIAA.
