Great experience got my gun permit in 2 months. I don't think they issue a firearm anymore though. Looks great on any application.

If you really want to be a firefighter than take as many tests as you can find. Hopefully you will become a better test taker (hopefuly becoming a FF) Entering the military for the sole purpose of getting points doesn't seem to be the right choice for entering the military. IE you might get five points but never take the test because you were killed. JMO

Last week I noticed the second occurance the Commish was talking about. They did mention that is was from the Queens incident. But again the damage was done.

I hope they get paid more money. If they do great if they don't they should. FDNY specialized units ie rescue, hazmat make a higher percentage of pay then non specialized units.
