When 60 control toned out 2411 to 10-1 fire control, they explained to the chief that they were testing out a new panel in the control room and to disregard the tones and whistle.

Purchase FD has had a knox-box system for over ten years. All the corporate buildings on Westchester Ave have them. Other buildings in the district are also equipped with it too. E-240, TL-53, R-30, 2411, 2412 have the key to the boxes. The system works great for us over the years.

Purchase FD still uses their siren 24/7. A couple of years ago we went from 10 blows to 4. At the same time they replaced the old one with a smaller siren...(the company did not make a siren with the same horsepower, only more or less.... hi chris

to be honest their rescue caught my attention. i got a chance to see it at the syracuse convention over the summer. the october edition of FIRERESCUE magazine features of nice pic of it on the back cover. what goes on in/around latham for them get such a "monster" as you put it. its longer then TL-53 and looks like it has a great deal of equipment on it.

We have had the OPTICOM SYSTEM on E-240, TL-53, AND R-30 for a couple of years now. We have one reciever at the intersection of Purchase St. and Anderson Hill Rd. facing westbound (towards white plains). At certain times of the day that intersection can be very busy. It has worked great for us...

Purchase FD does not have any type of EMS response. Some of our members are EMTs and can assist HVAC on MVA's. If you are interested call the firehouse any time (914-253-9044). We drill every wednesday at 7 pm and you're more then welcome to stop by. JBJ

I saw on News 12 today that 6 members of the Vista FD are going down to assist in the relief effort. I was wondering if anybody knows what agency they are going through and if any other vol. dept's are considering sending some of their own? In reading other posts, i understand that FEMA is paying vol. firefighters to be "Disaster Assistance Employees". Are any department considering applying members for that? Does anybody know of other organizations that are requesting vol. firefighters for paid or vol. work? Thank You JBJ
