  1. An American Heart Association official drops from an MI at a Texas airport... and is saved by the same AED he had placed there a few months prior. Full story: http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/02/13/heart....AED/index.html I figured with today's news coverage all over the tragic upstate NY plane crash, some of us could use some good news for a change.
  2. Holy cow- very intense. Imagine being one of the cops seeing this mope behind him... he's thinking "Wow this guy's flying... Well, I'm not moving so he's gonna have to go around... holy cow! HE'S pitting ME??!!! Blame reality TV for teaching this mope how to do that! Whoa!" Followed by pavement, sky, pavement, sky.... Yes, I'm being silly but it's only because no one died, thank God.
  3. Outstanding! I guess those yappy little bite-sized dogs aren't completely useless after all!
  4. "Two former U.S. Border Patrol agents -- whose cases became flashpoints in the controversy over border security -- were released early from prison Tuesday." Full article: http://www.cnn.com/2009/CRIME/02/17/border...dons/index.html Thanks, Chris192, for posting the link a few months ago to the petition supporting the release of these officers. I hope we collectively brought about this (relatively) happy ending.
  5. WOW. Thanks (all of you) for the clarification. Can these calls get traced back to the source of them, even with cell phone useage being so popular now? I cannot imagine being the victim of something like that. This did happen to someone I believe on Long Island or Queens a few months or a year back. Dragged out of his house and cuffed in front of his family- something about a report of a barricaded perp in his house that was entirely fabricated. Seriously, wow.
  6. The article is no longer there... do you have another link? Or just paraphrase the jist of the article. I have no idea what SWATing is, outside of smashing bugs. (joke! No one get offended and jump on me, please! LOL!)
  7. "Police Sgt. Chris Walker struggled to solve the mystery of finding his own biological father -- until one day when he realized the man working with him in a Virginia police department shared his DNA." Full (amazing) story: http://news.aol.com/article/co-workers-are...-and-son/340541 For the hardened and cynical out there like ME, this story is awesome!
  8. "Two nurses were among experts who testified before the National Transportation Safety Board's four-day hearing on helicopter EMS safety, which was prompted by a record year in helicopter EMS accident fatalities." For the full article: http://include.nurse.com/article/20090209/...15/-1/frontpage
  9. Whoa, Chris... is that where the Stay-Puff Marshmallow Man lives?
  10. You mental bastard!! That's the most ridiculously funny thing I've seen since the terrorist puppet clip. Thanks for having so much time on your hands! Seriously, every time I drive by the goose ghetto off the Taconic I'm gonna laugh because of this cartoon...
  11. I just can't stop laughing over the name Coachman FAMILY CENTER! Almost every time police officers I know got sent there, someone got rolled with and at least 1 in the unsuing melee would end up needing an ED visit! Family center! Wow, that's rich.
  12. Oh come on, ease up on the BMW bashing. It took me a reeeeally long time to save up $50k worth of pennies and nickels to buy mine. And for the record, even with 4wd AND snow tires, I still slide on ice just like anyone else. Invincibility is for superheroes and I AIN'T one. Maybe she hit ice and went off-roading unexpectedly? NAH. It was just another dumb girl on a phone in her big fancy SUV... just makes more sense. Seriously, perhaps there was no airbag deployment because she went down the embankment and went butt-end-up just enough to impact the hood first, rather than the front bumper (with the bag sensors). Scary. Glad she's not dead and not an organ donor.
  13. Wow, great pics... though a bit disturbing for me as I drive the same truck. LOL! That's gonna be a very big, very painful repair bill - hope he's got Geico. I'd give him a 9.5 for the landing. Was the driver hurt?
  14. You'd think he was a cop, or something... They (pilots like Sully) get that cop voice thing going and, if done correctly in a moment of extreme duress, will get pretty much anyone to stop, reconnect to the situation, and do whatever the big authoritative voice is telling them to do. Very impressive, even to those old-timers like me not impressed by much anymore.
  15. Chris, is a political subdivision fancy talk for FIFEDOM? Just curious...
  16. As per a fellow poster, RWC130, Sept. 16, 2008: POLICE ARE LOOKING FOR THIS SUBJECT: ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Light-skinned Hispanic Male, about 40 to 45 years old 5 feet 9 inches tall with a muscular build. Bald and clean-shaven and was wearing a blue T-shirt with cargo pants.
  17. From the Journal News Archives: September 16, 2008 •• 174 words •• ID: wst54684511 YORKTOWN - State police are searching for a man who, while impersonating a police officer, stopped a woman on the Taconic State Parkway and robbed her at gunpoint. The incident took place around 5:45 p.m. Saturday on the northbound side, just south of the Croton Reservoir, police said. The woman reported that she was pulled over by an unmarked Chevrolet Tahoe with blue lights on the dashboard. The driver was described by the victim as a light-skinned Hispanic male, about 40 to 45 years.
  18. I am wondering now, too... has anyone seen an article with a PHOTO of this EDP? Did the woman who was "pulled over" provide any kind of description of the guy? NYSP might be interested, given the same MO and even vehicle (blue SUV with flashing blue light) involved in the armed robbery on the northbound TSP a few months ago.
  19. WOW. If I slapped every driver I thought deserved it, I'd have been arrested a LONG time ago. But seriously, this is pathetic. Wonder if it's the same idiot who pulled over a woman on the Northbound TSP a few months back- had a gun-took her purse. Remember? Mr. Blue Light should try to slap little ole' me one day. It'll be the happiest mug shot you all have ever seen.
  20. Agreed, though the use of the fire chief car to go on prospective business calls looks pretty bad. And given the inconspicuous color scheme and relative lack of marking/lights/bells and whistles (NOT!), he clearly burned that image into the minds of the entire Fox 5 viewership. Bad PR like that makes for a bad overall image of FF's. But I bet blackercloud (and nopoliticalspin2- same EDP broad) is hi-5ing herself and doing the happy dance as we speak!
  21. I agree with you and also did not vote him in, but I also agree to give him his chance to fix what he can. I have to say, though, that my greatest fear for this country is its vulnerability under his reign. He still has no official position on Arab vs. PLO. Are we gonna defend Isreal or not? Dunno. Are we gonna play hard ball with I'maNutJob in Iran or Kim Jong MentallyIll in North Korea? Dunno. He still thinks Bush over-reacted with respect to 9/11 and post 9/11. He intimates he'd do differently if put in the same position in such a way that makes me reeeally nervous. The "can't we all just get along" mantra he spouts is good for peace time, but does little else but piss people off in times of war and/or imminent threat thereof. Because of that, you ALL need to step up your training and be twice as diligent in IDing and dealing with terrorist threats, be they from outside countries or from within our own borders. Remember how hyper-vigilant and protective we all were of our own and our country as a whole after 9/11? I remember like it was 5 minutes ago. Get back to being that way, starting today.
  22. PM chris192... he'll fill you in, and then some!
  23. Disgusting. Someone should determine the actual ID of Blackercloud or NoPoliticalSpin2 or Legal111 (ALL THE SAME EDP!) and find out 1. where she lives and 2. where she was the night of the tire slashings. Seriously, who the heck else would do something so heinous??!! People like this hate puppies and war veterans and need to be STOPPED. Volunteers can line up BEHIND ME...
  24. Hilarious! For those of us old enough to even know what you're talking about, anyway.... And yes, those geese off Rt. 6 seemed to be acting strangely when I passed by this am. Bet they do know something. Happy Friday, all--- stay safe and WARM.
