I know from satellite photos I have seen an old FDNY Seagrave parked outside the hanger.

Yea those are hubcaps and not even alloys. I hate the patch idea and the white reflective stripe, both ideas of the new Colonel.

Just check with your governing agency, your regional agency, and the state, not everything is online, just call or email.. The department I was with used a PulseOx but we were under our look Municipal EMS provider.

Depends on the situation. Usually I have a strap for majority of calls but if actual work I would put it into my coat radio pocket so it's less likely to get caught up on studs or anything else. Medical calls I usually have a strap or back pocket. When I'm buffing fires outside of district usually it's in my back pocket.

Oh, eight years old, I thought it was an 06 Ferrara as most pictures I have seen says it. A HAZMAT truck is totally a complex and advanced apparatus, I just called it a rescue because I would thought most people would compare it to one, lol. It is kinda the oddball look compared to all the new rescues with a different cab. Thanks for the reply.

I see HAZMAT Company 1 is getting a new rescue from Ferrara. I was wondering about the life expectancy for apparatus in NYC as I thought 10 years was it. I know that the old rescue was a 2006 Ferrara so I'm just wondering if it was due for replacement or they had something wrong with it?

Because there is nothing hybrid or more fuel efficient out there that is designed to be a police vehicle. Yes the NYPD uses Altimas, Volts, Fusions, and Priuses but patrolling in NYC is more different then other places and they have the money to buy them. Not to mention all the support is needed for those vehicles like maintenance, where you're going to fuel it, etc. Stick with the police packages.

One of the few departments that wear Metros up hear in the area, lol.

Urban Renewal!

At points visibility was so bad you could stand 15 yards from apparatus and you could not see lights or scene lights.

Yea, all I use is a cellphone, I'm not anywhere near being a PRO, lol.

Date: 05/13/2012 Time: 05:45 PM Location: 88 Emmett St., Schenectady, NY Frequency: Schenectady Fire Department(County Ch. 16) 460.600Mhz Units Operating: E1, E2, E3, E11, T1, T2, C19, C20, C22, HAZMAT 1, HAZMAT 2, R1, Scotia E201, Niskayuna FD1, Carmen R134, Mohawk Ambulance Service, Schenectady PD Weather Conditions: Partly Cloudy, Moderate Temperatures, no wind. All residence were reported out and safe. Crews intially made an interior attack but quickly withdrew and put on the defensive. Two ladder pipes were employed and was able to knock down the bulk of the fire through the partially collapsed roof. Smoke was heavy at first moving swiftly through the neighborhood but quickly supsided when the bulk of the fire was extinguished. Carmen Fire Department was dispatched to the scene to establish a Rehab station for the working firefighters. Units still on scene and cause of the fire is still unknown at this time. Date: 05/12/2012 Time: 11:00 PM Location: Intersection of Sheridan Ave and S Swan St. Frequency: City of Albany Public Safety 800Mhz Units Operating: Engines 1, 2, 5, and 7. Ladders 1, 2, 3, and 4. Most command, staff, and investigations cars. Department Mechanic. Mohawk Ambulance Service. Albany Police. Weather Conditions: Clear, no wind, moderate temperatures. Description Of Incident: Fire began in the house at the corner of Sheridan Ave and S Swan St. and quickly spread to the adjacent 4 or 5 houses. No victims were inside at the time and crews started an interior attack. Soon the evacuation call was given and crews began setting up Ladder Pipes and Master Streams. No wind and slight humid air caused smoke to settle in the area causing a visibility of no more then 5-6 feet. Power and gas was secured quickly by National Grid, and the hanging power lines made maneuvering ladder pipes difficult. Throughout the fire their were collapse issues and sounds of walls and roofs collapsing was a common thing, proper collapse zones and precautions were taken to insure firefighter safety in the case of a fall towards the men and women. Halfway through the operation two Firefighters were treated for various problems and one was transported ALS and the other BLS to Albany Medical Center Hospital, both are reportedly in good health at this time. At around 3:00 AM smoke started clearing and bulk of fire was appearing to be knocked down and reports of fire being under control ensued. To this time fire is still being extinguished and collapse is still an issue. Investigating this fire will be difficult due to the structural integrity of the building and most likely will have to be demolished for safety reasons. In all a total of 4-5 homes were involved in the blaze and are now considered unlivable. The fire is at the Four Hour mark and fatigue is starting to set into the firefighters and quotes of having fun turn into "I'm too old for this." The department mechanic is on scene filling trucks with fuel as needed and making sure there is no problems with the equipment. Thankfully this fire didn't have any broken or dry hydrants as is many the case of recent fires around the area. Reporters: Andrew Witkowski

Actually doing a little research they don't have a stubby for VHF/UHF, which sucks, that thing is HUGE! I think you guys will like them, those radios are a big step up from it's predecessors, but wicked expensive.

I love the Sabers. I still use one up here in the Albany area., but of course will need replacing by the Narrowband Date. The new APXs are becoming very popular, the NYSP and another county use them up here. They do make stubby antennas for the APXs.

Man, I don't know if I have ever seen an Opticom in the bucket before.. Great pics as usual Kyle.

There was a 60 Minutes episode a while back interviewing Raymond Kelly about the capabilities of the NYPD. They showed a Marine unit that had the detector and it was set off by a passing boater who just had KEMO.

Found Passiac County's old ESU truck on Ebay tonight. 163k miles at $7,000. Looks like they removed the tow bumper on it though. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2003-Ford-F550-/280879080586?pt=Commercial_Trucks&hash=item4165b2a48a#ht_500wt_1182

Massachusetts State Police is testing the new Explorer and Taurus already. Been seeing a lot of departments in the MidWest and South getting them.
