So how exactly are other Westchester County EMS Agencies staffed to take calls???
-
Back to the original question. How are different EMS agencies around Westchester County staffed to cover calls?
-
I agree with you. There are always ups and downs. different VACs fix the problem in different ways. Some look to their members and some look to outside help. All that matters is that when you have trouble getting a bus out...you fix the problem. I do very clearly remember talks of hiring per diem emt roughly 5 months ago. Luckily the membership stepped up and those talks only last a month. I do not think it is possible to have a perfect system. But as long as you over all your calls and still can help surrounding agencies, though not perfect, the system is pretty efficient.

I'd say we have about 15 to 20 people carrying the load. Volunteer agencies will take what the get and make due with it.

Awesome looking car. I would imagine that a prisoner and a police officer will be in the back??? Best of luck with it!

As for right now and past years...we have not had a problem getting our busses out. Often having all three out at the same time during the day or night doing calls for either our town or surrounding towns. As far as waves of young members...as long as you have a good strong recruitment program than the "waves" should be minimal. Some of the Mount Pleasant agencies do indeed have trouble getting their buses out. One even has paid EMT's and still has trouble getting a bus out. running roughly 980 calls and M/A roughly 10 I'd say is acceptable. I understand that agencies go through waves of membership and coverage but...that is avoidable.

I agree with you...just do not know how people can be at ease knowing their lives are in the hands of inexperienced teams if they are needed. But there is not much we can do now. I guess either have a team with as much experience as possible or do not have a team at all.

Nice shots. Thanks for posting!!!

Nice looking rig...interesting layout. Best of luck with it.
-
My opinion is that is is just plan UGLY!
-
Most likely they have 2 if not more alternators. One for just the 2 Q's at minimum
-
Well put...you have got to be kidding me!!! If my departments apparatus looked anything like those...I would where a brown bag over my head while riding them to calls. I am happy they use the money they have to make themselves and their trucks look pretty pathetic.

That is simply embarrassing. The four firefighters should not be punished for not following SOG's or whatever term they use. They should be put in jail! How can you respond to a reported structure fire that is reported by the home owner who is inside the home and not check the house when it appears there is no fire? How much time and energy does it take to get off the rig and take even one step inside the house? Don't call 911 in Dekalb county, especially if your house is on fire.
-
What exactly is the front wheel caught up on? It is hard to tell. I hope no one was hurt.
-
What a sad story. This just proves the importance of rig checks and taking equipment checks seriously. we are not the only one who can be hurt by our equipment. My heart felt condolences to the family.

Thanks for posting. Any pics taken by a member or not are well appreciated (by me at least!).

Agree 100% Well Put!
-
Thanks, I will spread the word around the house!

Awesome pics. Looked like a pretty good fire. Thanks for posting. Maybe someone should photo shop some eye protection in to the pic of the FF cutting the roof. HA

I understand that people have and are losing support for President Obama. However, he is the President and is not being threatened with impeachment. One possible reason for impeachment is that the Presidents behavior is grossly incompatible with the proper function and purpose of the office. If this was true he would be up for impeachment...he must be doing some things right or be "compatible" for the job. People will always have a difference of opinion. It is what makes forums exciting. IF we all agreed, there would not be much reason for forums.

My department has every member use the ESS goggles. I am unsure of the model #. I personal am not a fan. Unless the weather is right, the goggles fog up quickly. Often times it would be more beneficial to just work (extrication, saws, etc) with your eyes closed since you can not see through the goggles anyways. At least with your eyes closed you do not have bulky goggles pressed against your face.

Awesome looking rig! Does anyone know if anyone has purchased it?

Just out of curious, which Westchester FD's have either a FAST or RIT team. I know in Pleasantville we have a FAST team consisting of members from all of our companies. The equipment is kept on Rescue 47.
-
We have the team but it is not very active. Our current chiefs are working to change this. They are doing drills and members are taking FAST more often. It is a work in progress, but the county does recognize us as having a FAST team.
