Thanks you so much for sharing and providing all the entertainment I need for the rest of the week. I do not even know what to say...

Does anyone know if this is this paramedic protocol anywhere in the country? I am not a huge fan of the show Truama but i recently watched an episode and the flight medic did this with great success. It was for a pt with a severe spinal injury.

I think this thread is excellent. I am enjoying reading it and picking up some knowledge about something that is a very big possibility. Thanks to all for the great posts and insight.

Great job by OFD. It is a shame that the resident died in the fire. My condolences to her family.

I was not looking for honor and distinction. Once again, get better soon!

This touches my a little more than most. I know the Police officers mother. She works in my mom's law firm in white Plains. My most heart felt prayers go out to the family and the injured officer. Get better soon!

Seems slightly pointless. Every company member has his own personal seat and a seat for his gear as well.

Great shots, thanks for sharing. Looks like a great stop by all companies that were involved in the incident. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I hope the injured mother in-law has a quick recovery!

I am just curious as to people opinions for how to renew an EMT Certification. I know a lot of people take the CME path and attend endless hours of lecture to refresh. I have not needed to refresh yet but I plan on taking a refresher course to do so. I feel that the refresher course is the best option and is also less time consuming. The refresher course also seems to be more to the point while CME credits can be obtained by sitting in on lectures for various topics, some of which may not pertain much to the duties of being an EMT. Also, my understanding is that CME courses are not hands on, making a refresher course more beneficial to the EMT because it allows him/her to test their skills. I know that in my VAC, we are doing away with the CME program, meaning our members will no longer be able to put CME credits towards refreshing their EMT certificate. I am just interested to hear others peoples takes on preference. Pros and cons of both...

Ossining recently had a structure fire at 3 Butler Pl. I was their with PVAC Rehab. I took some pictures with my phone and posted them on this site. That house was pretty close to a Collyer's Mansion as you can somewhat see in one or two of the pictures. Back to the show...it is amazing to see how these people live and how the disease has ruined their lives. I remember one episode where they found a cat while cleaning out the house. The cat was flat as a magazine and the owner said she had not seen it in like 15+ years!

Looking for the easy way is completely not what I do in any aspect of life. I am not saying I want to take a refresher course because it is less time consuming. I never do the minimum when it comes to training. Even being away for school and completing a double major and a minor, I still manage to do way more than the minimum...I was just saying things and opinions that I hear about the two options. I was looking to learn more about both options and pros and cons of both. This post is not about me and what I will do, it is about learning about both options

I am just curious as to how state EMT instructors are payed. I have heard on several occasions that their pay is based on how many EMT they produce in each class. Is this true??? If so could this be part of the reason why it seems there are more and more "new" EMT's who are not sufficiently prepared for EMS and lack basic skills? Are instructors pushing students through the course to collect a bigger paycheck? I am NOT trying to blame the instructors because I firmly believe that you get out of the course what you put in. I am just trying to answer some questions. I guess this is really two different topics, one about how instructors are payed and why there are so many "new" EMT's who lack basic skills and fail to properly perform the daily tasks of an EMT.

What is the big deal!?! The kid was supervised and told what to say by the paramedic. People will try to make a story out of anything. Hey news channels how about MARCH MADNESS!!!!

quotename='firebuff860' date='02 February 2010 - 10:06 PM' timestamp='1265162801'post='203291'] Ithink it is fine the way it is. Ifcertain "members" are upset by other "members" critiquingresponse times and the number of personell who respond- fix it. If an IA went out that said xyz deptresponded within 2-3 minutes with appropriate apparatus and personell, thenother "members" would have nothing to critique. It is not the Deputy Chief's problemfor pointing out the obvious, maybe it is others problem for trying to ignoreit. Apparently you joined the Grammar Police Task Force (GPTF) after you made this post awhile back. I'm just kiddingaround! Thanks for pointing my error out. I'll be sure to pay more attentionwhile posting on this site. I agree with you that people need to step up theirgrammar on this site.
