I agree with you 100% that everyone SHOULD have a bailout system. I also feel that majority of departments do not spend enough time training people to use their harnesses and bailout systems. The reason I started this thread was because I have noticed that up in St. Lawrence county where I go to school and am a M/A member with Potsdam FD, practically no one has a bailout system or a harness of some sort. The tallest building in St. Lawrence county happens to be on the campus at my school (SUNY Potsdam). The building is 6 stories tall. If I had to guess, I would say that 70-80% of houses in St. Lawrence county are 1 or 2 stories. I guess this is why there are so few firefighters with harnesses or bailout systems.

One of my best friends and fellow PVAC members is a US Army Sgt. and EOD Specialist. He is currently serving in Kuwait. The job these brave men do is nothing short of spectacular. True heroes! About the NYC incident. I a happy that no one got injured and to hear that one of the suspects was arrested while trying to flee the country. May he and all suspects involved suffer for a long time to come.

I was not assuming just to spend money. When you say laddered, are you referring to ground ladders or an aerial ladder?

May you all rest in peace. One of my best friends and fellow VAC members is currently serving as an EOD SGT in Kuwait. My thoughts and prayers are with him and all men and woman of the armed forces every day. Get home safe!

May you rest in peace brother. My most heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends, and fellow firefighters. RIP

May the fallen police officer rest in peace. My thoughts and prayers are with the friends, families, and co-workers of the 5 officers. May the 4 injured officers have a speedy recovery.

As usual? I was only talking about the 37-medics...I had all their info. There is no 37M2 from 1900 to 0700. With the exception of the reservation, 37M1 covers all of the jurisdiction as first due. Forgetting to leave out the reservation is not half of the info. If you could PM me and let me know about the "As usual PFDRES47CUE has only half the info"...it would clear up a lot of confusion. If you need to include personal rage into your posts towards me, keep the post on topic with my topic. 87 was not included in my post because I was only talking about the 37-medics. I had 100% of the info I wanted to include...

Perhaps he wanted to go fishing but forgot his boat. Probably figured that he payed for an Audi, it should float! This is why I always carry an underwater camera in my car...just in case.

I like the "Eliminate Massive Spending" on the back! How massive was Jim Holt's spending to purchase the ambulance, put in a light package, and vinyl it??? Seems like he could have done some "Massive Spending" himself.

If I remember correctly, Chappaqua FD did this same thing within the past year. I forgot which pizza company they teamed with. It is a great idea.

To add on to coverage... from 7AM to 7PM, Medic 1 covers Pleasantville Thornwood, Valahall, and Most of Thornwood. Medic 2 covers some of Hawthorn, Sleepy Hollow, the hospital grounds and Medic 1 over flow. From 7PM to 7AM, only Medic 1 is in service and covers all of the jurisdiction.

It is the old water dept. Flooding is not as big of an issue as it has been made out to be. The Broadway Field floods when the water in the stream rises. The garage and the building are high up. the parking lot is also high enough, flooding should not be an issue. When we had a really bad rain storm a few months? ago, Mount Pleasant experiences terrible flooding but no water in our garage or building. Broadway Field was a lake though...

Congrats Capt! Best of luck.

What a shame. People are always quick to jump at and accuse volunteers for numerous reason. (I am not starting a volunteer vs. career discussion/argument/war!) I remember hearing about a similar instance in one of my department well before I joined. I believe a member was accused of stealing a laptop. I hope Yung enjoys her misdemeanor.

Just wanted to hear which departments have mutual aid membership policies in place. What are these policies. What are the policies for gear? Do members use gear from their department or does the mutual aid department provide gear. If a members gear is damaged at a scene with the mutual aid department, who pays for repairs?

Great find. Best wishes for a speedy recover for the injured FF. Stay safe!

Here are some pictures of our fully involved house fire last night. I could not get any pictures of the house fully involved, cause I went right to work. Sorry about the poor quality, the pictures were taken with my cell phone.
