  4. I would have to believe so. If you look at any battery, they all don't last as long in the cold. I have noticed this with car batteries, cell phone batteries, laptop batteries, regular batteries (AA, AAA, C, D, 9V, etc). The cold temperatures act as an inhibitor which slow down the internal reactions. This results in less electrons flowing through the circuit which means less power produced...

  6. Nice pictures. Nice stop by NKFD preventing the fire from reaching the tank and causing further damage.
  7. Awesome shots! It is really nice to see all members wearing SCBA's when omn the roof or inside even with the light or non existent smoke condition. Looks like a real nice stop.
  8. Pleasantville FD has an AED on all apparatus. There are also EMS jump bags and 02 bags. There really is no excuse for not having EMS equipment on rigs. An AED is a cheap lifesaving tool that has been proven to be very effective. If a department can not afford AED's they should appl;y for a grant or look for companies to donate them. It will be a lot easier to ask the public for donations for an AED and explain the benefits of having one then having to explain to the public why a member collapsed at a scene and could not receive the proper care.
  9. Nice shots, thanks for posting.
  10. Awesome pic thanks for sharing! Looks like a real nice job of stabilizing the vehicle!

  16. Another great job by TCD. Best of luck with the new truck Purchase FD!
  17. I like how the person filming say 'Why are the firefighter there like that"...perhaps because your hiding? Glad to see that no one got injured.
  18. Any idea how many situations like this occurred? Any idea on the number of buses that the city had out? Not out?
  19. Interesting equipment.
  20. Pleasantville VAC & Pleasantville FD are hosting a blood drive 12/28/2010 (today). The blood drive will be from 2:30 PM to 8:30 PM at the Pleasantville FD located at 75 Washington Ave. ***ALL DONORS WILL RECEIVE 2 NEW YORK METS TICKETS*** I would be really great if we got a lot of donors. There is a real need for blood in our area. I will post the event flyer ASAP.
  21. Walk-ins are more than welcomed. Just helped carry in the drinks, cookies, chips, etc. What could be better than helping out the community, getting two mets tickets, and enjoying a snack? Come on down 2:30 to 8:30!
  22. Rest In Peace. My condolences to her family and friends.
  23. The situation in NYC is pretty disgusting. It once again shows a city that is not prepared for some things. There are major cities around this country that experience this amount of snow frequently. Moral of the story is the tri-state area needs to learn how to properly remove snow and make streets as safe as hey can be during sh** weather
  24. Now it is time for people to freak out like always. Go to the supermarket just in case you are trapped in your house for a month. People in Westchester and surrounding areas need to learn how to drive and deal with snow. You know, there are places that get hammered by snow frequently and people still get around and survive without having heart attacks.
