  1. Really funny show. It is a great idea, as long as no one takes it the wrong way. Knowing people, someone will take it the wrong way and ruin the humor. (general statement)
  2. I'm just curoius to see if there is a NYS Protocol for restraining patients in the back of an ambulance. Is there is list of items that may be used to restrain patients (ie: triangular bandage, restraints, etc)? The reason I'm asking is because I just saw an episode of The Bravest (Yes, I know this is an old show) in which the City of Dallas FD used lage zip ties to restrain patients. These seem to work well and can only tighten, unlike triangular bandages which often losen or allow the pt to slip out. The only concern would be the zip tie becoming too tight. Could these be used? Or does protocol not allow this?
  3. EMT-I is a fairly common thing to be in St. Lawrence County (NY) as well.
  4. Umm.... ehhh..ummmm I second the question...
  5. Plenty of Chiefs that should not have FF1! Or at least anymore!
  6. Thank you for posting! God Bless. RIP
  7. My condolences to the families of the deceased children. My thoughts and prayers are with the injured children and their families. God bless the firefighters that responded to this incident. After personally responding to the Taconic Crash, I can only say that "hell" does not come close to describing what incidents like these are like. RIP

  10. I agree with you. Except, members not trained in patient care should be on scene if their goal is to become trained in patient care. We have a to of Trainees all of whom are expected and encouraged to become EMT within 3 years latest of becoming Trainees. It is so important for future EMT/Medics to get experience prior to starting EMT class.
  11. Absolutely!!! IMHO, they must! How can someone be expected to run scenes, makes medical decisions, and mentor, guide, and teach other members and EMT's if they are not one? In order to lead EMT, you should be at least an EMT. Officers need to set up training, set up drills, purchase supplies, make medical decisions, help answer questions from the membership...an EMT can do all of these things at a higher level. Pleasantville VAC requires all Line Officers to be EMT's for a year prior to running or being elected. They also must be members in PVAC or a year minimum. Of course there are other guidelines/requirements as well. Admin Officer...meaning? Board members, commissioner etc? These are not Line Officer's.
  12. You can only use it if I can use my Nozzleman for Dummies book while I wait for you to give me water. ha
  13. Some departments give members problems over getting marching uniforms... Money is not the issue, in a perfect world, we would all have all the equipment we need.
  14. I would have to agree. It may seem like a nice thing but IMHO it only has information that you should have memorized and know like the back of your hand. When I am on the nozzle I do not want to have someone on the pumps who needs a cheat sheet to send the water out the right discharge. I want an operator who knows for sure what he is doing and which discharge he needs to use. After all, any mistake at the pump can kill the people on the hose line. EDIT: One time that I could see this as being an excellent addition to a pump panel is if it is on an Engine that is used solely for Pump Ops such as one owned by the county training center somewhere.
  15. This is not true. Hawthorne FD does a great job of responding its Gator very quickly. We used their Gator two times this past year for our Graham Hills Park Responses Plan. Their Gator was always there quickly.
  16. Pleasantville VAC has a Rehab Unit (7605). This unit is equipped with basically everything needed to rehab firefighter, police, ems, etc at fire, mva's, or any other extended incident. You can request us 24/7 by contacting 60-Control and asking for Pleasantville VAC Rehab Unit. They will then contact Pleasanville PD who will tone us out. On our rehab unit (7605) we have: tentscooling chairsnon-cooling chairsmisting fanscold water/gatoradecold wet towelsvital monitoring equipmentCarbon Monoxide detector (detects levels in the body)food (typically granola bars)iceoxygenpropane heatergenerator with lightspropane heaterheated tent (attaches to propane heater)*If you have any questions, feel free to ask!*
  17. Sounds like a great stop by Montrose FD. Good work!
  18. It does not sound like either no one knows, or the people that do, don't feel they are allowed to inform us. Sounds like my original plan is the only viable option...
  19. Great picture! Thanks for posting.
  20. Great picture. Any idea of the year?

  22. The whole situation is a tragedy and a mess. God bless the 4 Officer who were killed. RIP. It is important however to remember that among all the bad in Mexico, there are good people that are just surrounded by evil, thus giving them a bad image. Hopefully, something changes and the bloodshed slows down.
