  3. Spec out a new $800,000 rig, then when it arrives, make sure the truck doesn't role to alarms. Tires should stay good as new.
  4. You hit the nail on the head. Not only will 95% of kids go away for college, but chances are they will not return to their hometown after college.
  5. Rest in Peace Brother! God Bless you for all you did during your years with the Plattekill FD. The world needs more people like you. My condolences to this young mans family, friends, and the Plattekill FD.
  6. Very cool! Do you mind if I ask how much they go for?
  7. You can get these LED's for almost any helmet. I am a big fan of the Morning Pride helmet. Also, remember that when crawling through a smoked out house, the 8 LED's in the front will point straight at the ground and the blue LED will point straight into the air..useless. I imagine that these helmet lights appeal to you because you can easily see the people in front of you from their blue LED. If this is the case, consider outfitting people with box lights will rear facing blue LED's these are great for performing searches and make it very easy to see people in front of you in low visibility since the blue LED's will always be facing backwards and parallel to the ground. Good luck with the search for new gear!
  8. So true! I know a guy that has all his pockets full and even has a tool pouch clipped onto his bunker pants...i think that nuts.

  12. That is a great idea. Three people have come to me within the past 24 hours with that same idea. I even heard of a situation where attending PTA meetings actually proved beneficial and got a substantial amount of daytime EMT's. Thanks!
  13. Found this article interesting. This shows why it is very important to find the proper C&O of fires and why reporting similar findings can be very beneficial. Good work by Watertown FD. Watertown Fire May Have Sparked Fan Recall
  14. I run a lot of car accidents so the ARK kit is a must for me. All of my tools combined are just a bit bigger than a woodchock (minus the cpr mask). The wood/sprinkler chocks are in my helmet. The real issue profile wise is the bulky Rockin Rescue that I'm forced to carry on my person. I would prefer if it was on the air-packs. Pleasantville FD has us carry them on our person. Potsdam FD has them on the packs...I'm a fan of them on the pack. Too me it seems that if I am ever going to need to bailout I will be in a situation that requires me to have a pack on. So the bailout system on the pack means I would have it whenever I would need it. Unless I need to bailout at an MVA or brush fire... Also with everything said, it is important for me to note that all of my car accident tools which are kept in my small tool pouch are removed from my person for fires since I wont be cutting seat belts or punching windows. When going into a fire, the only thing left on me are a wood chock, knife, leatherman...sorry for the confusion.
  15. This past season was great! I can not wait for the next season to air.
  16. Thank God the child was found unharmed and returned home.
  17. I know of a FD that used to rent out (or perhaps own) a vacation house that their members could use to go away for the weekend or so... This is not the case anymore.
  18. Started my own thread to avoid tainting this gem Pocket Tools
  19. You deleted half of the quote! Im sorry for bringing EMS into this! LOL
  20. With Potsdam FD, I always have a Streamlight Survivor on my jacket. since we respond to the scene, I make sure it is charged all the time. I also have a Streamlight on my helmet (attached with the optional rubber band) I also have a Garrity light in my turnout coat pocket. With Pleasantville FD, I always take a Steamlight Survivor with me when I leave the rig. I often take a box light as well. I also have a Streamlight on my helmet (attached with the optional rubber band) I also have a Garrity light in my turnout coat pocket. I also have a small LED flashlight in my EMS jump bag.
  21. They are often wearing the still CLEAN gloves while they write the PCR at the hospital.
  22. Apparently no roll car in the doors and sides of the Camaro. What a shame to see such a classic muscle care get towed away in ruins. Hope everyone heals quickly and a new car is restored.
  23. Well done Rengaw87.
  24. It is true that the antenna will not pick up weaker signals. But I have had no problem with any frequency that I have wanted to listen in on in Westchester County or St. Lawrence County. Cold temperatures could be a problem. I personally have not had much of a problem with the suction cups failing (and I am in temps as low as -40) but since I know they can my antenna is mounted on the passenger corner of the windshield. They are higher maintenance and keeping the windshield clean helps a lot. I have had the suction cups holding my LED lights to the windshield fail so I am looking at mounting them to the headliner. Thanks for the info Izzy and Joe. -Madison
