Thanks. The patient was still restrained upon our arrival but required someone to hold him up since gravity was working against him.. We did not cut the seatbelt until we were ready to remove the patient. I worked the tool on the call. Originally, we were going to put a relief cut in the drivers side of the roof so that we could just fold it back after we cut the A pillars. We then decided to just keep cutting down to remove the front portion of the roof. The Res-Q-Jacks are a great too! I personally love to use them. But thye can be a hassle and time consuming to set up unless you are familiar wiht them...but overall they are easy to use.

I was driving behind the new CFFD Chiefs car on my way to the South Salem parade this past Wednesday. I think the truck looks great. CFFD speced the rig out the way they did because they feel it necessary. The lights wont hurt anything so... Nice rig CFFD. Best of luck with it.

Should have made a push to sign all of these "buffs" up!

My reason for not wanting sirens to go off for EMS calls is based on the poor state of volunteer EMS(GENERAL STATEMENT NOT REFLECTING ANY DEPARTMENTS OR AGENCIES) in our area. Anyone who hears EMS runs go out around the county, knows that agencies/departments are getting toned out more than once for most calls. So if you have an agency that does 1000 calls/year but gets toned out 3 times/call, then the siren is goign off 3000 times a year and 3 times in a matter of minutes. Fire calls on the other hand are usually toned out only once.

Unfortunately the window decals that the fire service has been giving out to families for years to show where a child's bedroom is are liked by child predators as well. At least the street signs don't show the child predator the direct access to the child's bedroom. One thing that I have also seen growing in popularity is family stickers on mailboxes. You know the stickers that people put on the back of their cars that are a (usually silver) mom, dad, then maybe a boy with a hockey stick, or a girl dancing, etc. These show you how many family members live in the house (assumption of course). Keep your eyes open, clues are everywhere.

Anyone have any information about the Montrose VA working fire? I thought I heard it was in building 52 or 25 on the #3 floor. I heard 1 and 1 from Montrose, Cronton FAST, Cortland VAC, and 1 Engine from Verplank stand-by in their HQ. What type of building is #52 or 25? Sounded like a quick KD. Good work!

Great post. It is terrible for people to do this. One thing I learned from having this happen to my pictures on various sites, is to do this. Open the photo in an editor that allows layers (ie: Gimp). Then paste a clear layer on top of the image. This makes it so that when someone right clicks to save or download a picture, they end up saving or downloading the clear layer. Easy trick.

Today the FDNY had a "technical rescue" call at box 372. The call was for a female child who was stuck in a swing at a park. I think that is one of the best I have ever hear! Anyone have any other good ones to share?

It's great to hear good press about the fire service. Awesome job Jim. My boss who is also retired WPFD and worked with Jim only had good things to say about Jim.
