The LENS program is a very good resource.

Very nice to see proactivity in emergency services.

A shame to hear. I may be young but I do recognize greatness and Frazier was not only a great boxer, but is a great man. RIP Andy Rooney. [edit - RIP Andy Rooney...not Frazier...will proof read next time.]

Ambulances are not the only way for loved ones to get to the hospital. The family could always use one of their own cars to drive a family member with a sprained ankle or the flu to the hospital. In all seriousness, I understand where you are coming from.

This is true, even when not tied up, the response distance/time can be lengthy. This can be fixed by intercepting with the Medic. This is common practice in parts of New York where ALS is 20+ miles away. There is nothing wrong with notifying dispatch and the Medic of the nature of the patient, which hospital you will be transporting to and which route you will be taking allowing for an intercept point to be established. I'm not saying this is the best way, but if money is the issue, then this is a way of utilizing the Medics that you have.

Check out this thread that someone started...seems like this is an example of why staffing Rye Brook FD is a good thing. My link

This is similar to the reason why Rye Brook FD is a valuable asset to the Rye Brook community.

I can understand both sides of the argument. 3 Medics may or may not be enough. I do not run jobs in the area enough to know exactly how well he system is working. However, one thing that relates to all areas is the type of calls that are going ALS? are these jobs actually in need of ALS or are the BLS providers not capable of handling certain BLS calls? If there was a reduction in BLS calls that were going ALS and tying up a Medic, then 3 might very well be enough, but on the flip side, if Medics are constantly stuck with BLS calls then no way is having 3 Medics sufficient. It is important for BLS providers to be competent, confident and not reliant on ALS. (No offense Medics...I'm sure you agree)

Good eyes. Excellent job for sure. Glad to see that it appears the FF's were all alright.

All I know is that the WEMS 45-Medics do an incredible job covering the large area that they are responsible for. I do not work with them 45-Medics often, but when I do, they are professional, competent and a pleasure to deal with. Keep up the great work!

Could not agree more! Listened online quite ability this weekend, great job by all of the dispatchers from 60-Control and other agencies.

Wanted to say kudos to the Brewster Fire Department for helping out stranded Metro North travelers. Lohud

Really well laid out rig. Best of luck with it!

Very good footage. I hope the documentary works out.

Just want t say, god work by all departments that were busy over the weekend due to the storm. A bunch of fire broke out with bad weather conditions and from what I gather, there were no serious injuries reported. Good work and stay safe!

Chris - I completely agree. I am not a LEO but given the circumstances, I would think the handcuffs, weapon drawn, and exercising extreme caution were all appropriate. I like how the Miami LEO says he will cooperate...I don't think he cooperated very well at all.
