Asst. Chief Bergfels Her ride home Craig Elderkin Free @ last

Well she is home, YESSSSSSSSSSS. The crew got her running right where she was sitting for the last 11 years (off the road). We sold it in 1990 when we got the Pierce Dash, the FWD and our 67 International went up for sale. With alittle help from a chain on a pickup to get the front wheels loose, she took over from there and came to life and came right out of the holes from sitting for so long. The holes were about a foot deep. Man hearing that Detriot come to life was AWESOME!!!!! I want to thank Deputy Chief Scott Boardman, Asst. Chief Bergfels, Firefighters Lester Herow (Signman), Matt Marshall, Brian Whalen, Life member Danny Killmer and explorer Bradley Whalen for going there and helping bring her home. Also a special thanks to Craig Elderkin (FDNY2817) and Al Kaehler for coming down to assist and lending some great advise. Now the fun starts for us and it should be great to see this project through. I joked at the firehouse that when we got back, people it seemed came out from everywhere to see her arrive. It seemed that there were more people there today then when our new tanker arrived. CC-14 Lenny Morrison, Amenia Fire Commissioner Peter Deister came by also. Again thanks to the members of EMTBRAVO for the support and push to get this done. THANK YOU ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Several pics to follow.

It is with deep regret that we inform you of the death of Major John Pryor, MD, a member of the JEMS Editorial Board who was killed by mortar fire on Christmas Day in Iraq while serving as a trauma surgeon in the United States Army Reserve Medical Corps., 1st Forward Surgical Team (FST). Dr. Pryor was a trauma-critical care surgeon at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and served as Penn's Trauma Program Director and the Director of the Office of Life Support Education for the Division of Trauma. He joined the U.S. Army Reserve Medical Corps. after the attacks of 9/11 and served two active duty tours as the trauma surgeon for the 344th Combat Support Hospital in Abu Ghraib, Iraq, during 2006, and then with the 1st FST in 2008. Here is an article from JEMS' AJ Heightman related to this tragic loss: http://www.jems.com/news_and_articles/columns/Heightman/JEMS_editorial_board_member_killed_in_Iraq.html posted with permission from the secretlist Rest in Peace Major Pryor

Tommy, I believe they are going to redesign them, any designers here to help with a new design???
-
You should only have one posted, whatever your current rank or title and if you have a job in the service that is ok too.
-
Rob, I got a navy sweatshirt, never saw the t's, can we go with maybe an ash grey shirt, something lighter in color, the cat hair shows up to much on the darker colors
-
No problem Joe you can come take a peek during the week, you did say you wanted the hose right???
-
A huge loss not only to the organizations he belonged to in his civilian life but to the men and woman serving our country there is now one less trauma surgeon to help them survive their injuires and get them back home, tragic to say the least.
-
Craig are you meeting us there and if so you must already know the location?
-
Maybe adding some administrative titles to the profile area, such as: commissioner, board of director, Fire Dept. President, Fire Dept Vice President, past chief instead of ex-chief (sounds better) just to name a few.
-
Joe that is something we DO NOT ALLOW, no exceptions!!!!

Must have had seen to much sun

Excellent thread, looks to be one of the most productive one since I have been visiting EMTBRAVO. This is what makes this site an excellent resource, so much knowledge and experience; a blend of career Chiefs and FF'ers willing to share their thoughts and knowledge with us Vollies in the samllest of small departments. We started issuing pager/portables to the membership a few years ago and it seems to work ok. As stated the biggest problem is that you may not bring it or it is not charged. Having them also on the apparatus as stated in the area of the handlight and SCBA is an great idea and a pretty basic concept. As far as JHK3605 point of being on the wrong channel, that can only be corrected with training. When is the last time there was a basic radio class in our area? As 585 stated the radio is a tool, just like any other tool you must be trained in it's use.

Put me down for two. Come on Joe you got the $$$$$, with your promotion to 36-2 you should be able to buy all of us in the valley one.
-
Rob, I love the idea of having an EMTBRAVO day at the firemans home in Hudson, great idea.
-
If it involves emergency services in Texas, then surely it is related to what we do in the NE, try just not reading those posts if YOU fell they do not apply to you, just my thoughts.

Come on Dan, you got three weeks, you can't manage a switch to attend the Copperfield's night???

A Bonham Fire Department Ambulance collided with a car at a rural intersection, killing all three people inside the sedan on Christmas day. According to the cops, the ambulance driver failed to see the Chevrolet Malibu before turning onto U.S. Highway 69. The car slammed into the ambulance, sending both vehicles off the road and leaving the ambulance on its side in a ditch. Killed were civilians Pamela Kay Touart, 59, and her twin sons, Cameron Wayne Boudreau and Kipp Leonard Boudreau, both 29. The 2 Firemedics in the ambulance were taken to a hospital and later released. Bonham Fire Chief Bill Palya says it did not appear the family wore seat belts. The ambulance was headed back to its station at the time of the accident. Leonard is located about 50 miles north of Dallas. as reported by the secretlist at firefighterclosecalls.com
