We regret to advise you that 1st Assistant Chief Richard J. Layton of the Freeport (NY) FD died this morning following a mutual aid fire response into another community. Chief Layton had operated at the commercial building fire in the neighboring community of Baldwin and returned home after that. At approximately 0700 hours this morning, following the fire, Chief Layton had been scheduled for routine surgery, where he very sadly passed away due to a medical emergency prior to the procedure. Our sincere condolences to all affected, especially his wife Jaime, their family members and the members of the Freeport FD. posted with permission from the secretlist.

Here are a few shots of our tanker operating at a tanker shuttle/live burn in Lakeville Ct. in November 2007, EMTBRAVO's own the Signman operating the tanker. photos by Ed Harvey @ fireservicephotography.com Using the Passenger's side dump Using the rear dump

Maybe it should be the top 10 incidents, not top 10 alerts. Dan the problem with this one, all the people that might have posted an alert were most likely there, well maybe me but I had no idea about EMTBRAVO then.

when you guys get ready to play gives us a shout, LC is only a 40 minute drive tops for us.
-
I know we are not obviously a mutual company but if and when you guys setup some tanker shuttle drills we'd love to join you. A department can never do enough training with shuttles and as stated we would love to attend with our tanker. I know this would not work if you are trying to calculate your water supply/demand but if it is just a drill to get more familiar with the process we'll be there.

Not even sure if the Wassaic mountain fire made an incident alert, but that was a pretty big event, x129 can attest to that

Yeah that's what the crew said, they told me they would drive it out, I guess I should have believed them, it was pretty awesome to see it run and actually drive onto the trailer under her own power. did you guys watch the video???

He did have a leatherman in his pocket, I think when he noticed the crack in the housing he changed his mind. We were able to get alittle brake pedal back too.

Right on the $$$ with the pump size, the tank is we think 300 gallons, it was custom made to make room for more hose several years ago and no one remembers the size, so it looks like maybe we may have to fill it 1 gallon at a time to find out  We are in Eastern Dutchess right on the CT. border about 45 mins or so North of Brewster on Rt.22. Also welcome to EMTBRAVO

As you know, Elizabeth (NJ) FF Gary Stephens died in the Line of Duty in a horribly tragic accident early this morning when he was run over by his apparatus as it backed up while establishing water. He had 28-years on the EFD. The apparatus (photo on our home page) was being driven by one of FF Stephens' longtime friends, a 25-year veteran of the EFD. The apparatus was moving at less than 5 mph when the tragedy occurred under a bridge supporting the New Jersey Turnpike. FF Stephens was directing the vehicle with hand signals as it backed up to lay a line for the structural fires a few blocks away. FF Stephens was hit after he turned to look at the fire. As we can all just attempt to imagine, the driver of the apparatus is ``devastated.'' IN THE SLAMMER: Emilio Vasquez, 19, was arrested this afternoon on arson and murder charges after he admitted setting the fire in an effort to keep warm. Vasquez had been living as a squatter there the past five days...there is no bail. FF Stephens is survived by a wife and brother. His father also was a firefighter in Elizabeth, from 1949 to 1973. an update from the secretlist

Any further details? I'm not to familiar with Garrison, how is that area for crime? Thoughts and Prayers to his family, the Garrison FD and for a quick closure to a tragic incident.

When looking at the pictures you will see some items missing, i.e., battery covers, lights lens, spotlights; we have all the pieces, well almost we are missing the 6' pry bar from the passengers side running board. Even the original nozzle for the booster reel was there. We got laughing, after we got all hose off we checked the area forward of the hosebed and under the hose reel where we used to keep the brush fire brooms, yep under the debris/leaves they were still there, not is good shape but there.
