I believe the thread you are referencing is the one I posted above. Some of us volunteers actually welcome the career FF'er opinions, opinions are just that opinions, it truly pays to be opened minded. As long as it does not get personal and individuals are singled out and attacked for no other reason other than they voiced their opinion. Imagine a world where everyone agreed on everything, it would be a pretty boring and unproductive place.

To the Muller family, the members of the Pawling Fire Department, Pawling Fire District and the Town of Pawling, the members of the Wassaic Fire Company extend our deepest condolences and our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time. The obituary of Commissioner Muller as it appeared in the Poughkeepsie Journal is below. PAWLING - Richard D. Muller, 63, a long-time resident of Pawling, passed away Tuesday, January 13, 2009 at St. Francis Hospital, Poughkeepsie, NY. Born in New York City on February 5, 1945, he was the son of Frederick and Hedwig (Heid) Muller. He worked as a maintenance supervisor for Green Haven Correctional Facility until he retired in June 2006. On September 4, 1976 he married Terrell Kurtz; she survives him at home. Richard was a dedicated member of the Pawling Fire Department, serving his community for 45 years, and was Chairman of the Board of Fire Commissioners since 1992. He was a lifemember who tried to further the education and training of the fire department members. Richard was a former member of the Pawling Lions Club who enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, power boating, and going on cruises with his family and friends. In addition to his wife, Terrell, he is survived by his son, Thomas Shaw and his wife, Donna of Bethel, CT; his two daughters, Susan Jackson and her husband, Kerry of Wingdale, NY and Christine Brunow and her husband, Henry of Pawling, NY; and six grandchildren, Maureen, Samantha, and Bridget Jackson, Olivia Shaw, and Holly and John Brunow. He is predeceased by his brother, Norman Muller who died November 28, 1980. Friends may call at the Horn & Thomes, Inc. Funeral Home, 83 East Main Street, Pawling Friday 2-4 and 6-8 PM. The Pawling Fire Department will conduct a service at the funeral home at 6 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at Christ Church, Quaker Hill, Pawling on Saturday at 11AM. Burial will follow in the Quaker Hill Cemetery, Pawling, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Richard's memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

I've heard of the contender series but haven't see one until now, I am sure it is some what cheaper than the custom chassis but as you said the one major concept of the PUC is the loss of the pump compartment and the ease of the pump maintenance. Can you get some other shot Seth to see what advantages this PUC has? In the picture the pump housing is alot smaller which will reduce the overall length.

last time I went to Appleton it was 60 when we arrived at 6pm, tornado warnings were issued and when we woke up it was friggin snowing!

If everyone holds to their word, I know of about 15 to 20 that are going just from JHK and Wassaic, not including some wives that are coming along, we figured they deal with enough of our crap on a daily basis why not take them out for a few drinks with us.
